Qdoba vs Chipotle

In Colorado we consume these burritos like we breathe air. The general consensus is Chipotle is better but Qdoba has queso and nachos. So unless you're getting queso or nachos, go for Chipotle. There's also a third local chain called Illegal Pete's that is inferior to both but has a much wider menu. The main thing there is to get it smothered.

Chipotle is better, plus they promote sustainable farming practices and raising animals humanely. So not only can you get better quality food, you can feel good about helping the environment.

Lol since they plaster all over everywhere they do this I don't think they're doing it to raise awareness or anything other than a cheap advertising campaign which obviously worked on you. If they actually cared they wouldn't tell everyone about it.

No Chipotle around here, so I visit Izzo's instead.

Chipotle's "Food with Integrity" marketing ploy is bullshit and makes me dislike the company even more. A lot of their employees are illegal immigrants and the company has a history of exploiting farmers. They also use genetically modified corn which makes their claims of using organic food void.

Not sure I'm following you here.

The best way to eat Mexican is to stop going to a chain all together.

Hit your local taco truck or do some digging and find a good local place (Chavelas or Calexico in Brooklyn being a good example), the real thing is ten times better than this manufactured crap ... unless of course you live in a particular place that has Chipotle but no local Mexican scene (which is odd, really)

They're converting all the stores to using organic corn actually. Ate at one in MD that had made the switch recently. The ones here in OH are also changing soon.

Ok, Mr. Cynical. Is it so hard to believe that they might do it and promote it because they believe in it? Not everything out there is a marketing ploy.

Well Mr. Naive, it is a marketing ploy when they don't practice what they preach.

Chipotle is techincally the older burrito place in Denver, by 2 years. Qdoba does more SF-style burritos though.

I prefer Chipotle, but Qdoba does have nachos. I actually liked Qdoba when they were Z-teca better.

Look Mr. Hyper-Critical, the fact that they are doing anything at all related to sustainable farming, when no other fast-food company in America is willing to go there, is a step in the right direction.

The question in Texas is Chipoltle or Freebirds, and the answer is Freebirds.
A Freebirds just opened up and is relatively near the Chipotle. I can't choose. Although Freebirds is slightly cheaper.

Yes, it's definitely a step in the right direction and I hope other restaurants start to adopt these practices, but I still think Chipotle needs to step it up (which they are as previously mentioned) if they are going to tout their "food with integrity" line.

While this isn't a burrito joint, I have to mention that Rubio's is probably my favorite Mexican fast food and I really wish they would expand out east.

I find Qdoba to be exponentially better, but to each their own.

Queso instantly makes it the winner.

They're both the same. Same with Moes. Same with California Tortilla or whatveer it is.

Places are all the same, they're all delicious. For me? I prefer Moes ONLY because they give free chips and I like their salsa more.

*edit*

No other Moe's mentions in thread? Surprised... I knew they didn't have too many stores, but we got Moe's in the North east, then Qdoba and CHipotle followed on their success.

Qdoba.. 2 things: nachos and BBQ sauce

You can have nachos made at Chipotle, you can have tons of stuff made that's not on the menu.

Protip, if you're broke and need something filling to eat, order a burrito that's filled with just rice and cheese. $1.75 IIRC.

There are options I like at Freebird's, like their different tortillas (cayenne, mmmmm) but I prefer Chipotle's taste because it is always fresh, I can get sour cream without an extra charge and Chipotle carnitas >>> Freebird's anything.

Habanero's Grill (San Antonio) is good too, mainly because they make the tortillas for each burrito right then (dough ball through a press right onto the grill for heating/cooking) and their wheat tortillas are godlike. They suffer the same "everything else costs extra" that Freebird's does, though.

Overall I'd say mine is Chipotle > Habanero's >= Freebird's

Lots of Moe's mentions on the first page. We all agreed that it's better than everything.

Never tried Qdoba cause they only have a couple in town, but I want to try them for this alone :(
that queso chicken burrito is dangerous. it's addictive.

Qdoba used to make these unbelievably good mexican breakfast burritos in my area. God they were incredible.

Queso, eggs, chicken or sausage, beans, and hash browns. Shit's wild.

Chipotle, because I've never seen a Qdoba. There's a Moe's in my area but I only went there once and got sick and had diarrhea for 3 days straight afterward so I'm certainly never going there again.
