Question about Mario Kart: DD unlockables

I'm trying to unlock some stuff, but the codes' wording is unclear to me.

For instance, to unlock Mirror Mode, the code says: Finish the All Cup Tour in 150CC. Does that mean that I have to finish FIRST (receiving the gold trophy) in each cup, or do I simply have to just place in the top 3?

The staff ghost thing really sucks. from memory you have to get a certain time on the level every time you want to play the staff ghost. from memory anyway. there is something really disappointing about the staff ghosts thing.

I think the game's focus was strictly on multiplay and co-op. Awesome LAN mode by the way.
 
I actually dont' remember it being that easy. or I remember the computer was good at shafting you on one of the last races in every GP or something. Pretty much you were only ever playing one computer character in each gp though. the rest would suck and 1 would be excellent.
 
Mirror mode is unlocked by getting gold in all 8 150cc GPs. Staff ghosts unlocked by coming close to it with a time trial time of your own. Usually around 5 seconds, sometimes more.

Yep. The game was a breeze until 150cc, and then it got exponentially harder.
 
Computer cheats like a bitch on 150cc. I could say exactly when the computer would screw me over with a lightning on the last lap down the final straight. Worst AI ever.
 
OK, right now, I'm going for the Mushroom Cup @ 150cc, and I'm currently in 1st place going to the last course.

Co-op actually makes the experience much easier. If you have somebody to ride on the back of your kart, they can concentrate on throwing items and stealing stuff from other racers.

My friend's sister unlocked everything and I'm just about to give up and just copy her memory card :)

i didnt really get into the single player in MK DD, was there unlockable characters or just unlockable tracks?
 
YES! I finally got King Boo and the big damn flower (that's what me and my friends call it).

As far as I'm concerned, I've unlocked everything. :D
