I was wondering is the bottom screen supposed to look grainy during white backgrounds?
Also are u supposed to press pretty hard in pictochat to write?

There is a coating on the touch screen (bottom screen) to prevent scatching. So that's why it looks "grainy".

No you should press so hard to draw stuff on the touch screen.

You shouldn't have to press hard at all. As long as you're using the stylus it should pick up your presses with about the same force as if you were writing on a real piece of paper.

Well i wasnt pressing that hard, not as hard as writing with a real pencil. I guess it doesnt pick up light touches? I also got Castlevania DS and its awsome.

You shouldn't have to press hard at all. That sounds downright wrong.
As long as its making contact in one place at a time it should register...

Yea the "grainy" thing is normal, nothing to worry.
