Question about PS3 dev kits....

I'm sorry but I didn't see this anywhere else.

Can anyone tell me how long developers have had PS3 dev kits and what versions do they have? Are they alpha kits? Do they contain finalized hardware? If not, when are final dev kits expected to reach developers?

Developers have received devkits in stages, so some have earlier revisions at this point than others. On record, Guerilla, makers of Killzone said they've had dev kit(s) since November and Epic seems to have had theirs for 2 months now. nVidia is still working on the final GPU hardware, so all of these devkits use dual GeForce 6800 GPUs right now. The final GPU (RSX) is supposed to be done before year-end.

Im kinda fuzzy on this myself. I coulda sworn Harrison said Cell devkits have been around for 5 months or so. But the RSX has basically just been two 6800 Ultra's in SLI mode since its not even final yet. Thats the gist I got but Im probably wrong.

*prepares to be corrected*

edit- And the more confusing part to me is have the Cell dev and the SLI Ultra been able to tango at all for these developers? Or is that not a feasable alpha? When are these two kids (Cell and RSX) gonna tie the knot already? ;)

edit to the edit- Ah thanks for that Lionheart

So around September (TGS) a second version of development tools (final version I think?) will be available to developers if this slide is still correct.
