Question about Street Fighter Zero 3 (Saturn).

I just bought it on eBay and got this email:

I just had one question about "[SS] Street Fighter Zero 3." I know that you just won it, but I wanted to know if in fact you have played it before? Well if you have, I was wondering if you knew how to or if there is even a way to select the background stage when you fight on VS. mode. In the previous [SS] SFZero (JP) & [SS] SFAlpha(U.S.) Series you could select the stage you want to fight on in practice & versus modes. If you know-or-not, PLEASE email me because it is driving me NUTS!! I'm starting to think it was a waste of $110.00 for a game that I can't even select the stage on versus/practice to fight in, compared to my [SS] SFZero 2 that I got for $10.00 that you can, ya know?

I have the game and no...I think there is no way to select the background...a pitty since this is the best version of SFZ3...
The same happened to the PSX version and nobody complained.

It's been a while since I played either version but IIRC you "chose" the stages based on who player 2 chose to fight as initially. IE if player 2 chooses Ken for the first fight you fight on Ken's stage. The part where it got confusing was that if you constantly chose the same characters the stage would start to alternate based on who won more. There was also something like, you had to choose the same character twice in a row to change the stage after the initial fight. IE if I wanted to fight on Ryu's stage I would have to choose Ryu twice in a row and the other player switch characters. The second time I chose Ryu we would be on his stage.

It was an odd system and I don't think I'm explaining it well at all but my brother and I figured it out the last time we played which was something like 8 months ago.

You couldnt select the stage in the saturn version? That sux
The DC version didnt have that problem. I know cause I still play that version

All i know iz that the loser gets his stage selected, except when you first start playing (always 1st player as default there) --> PSOne, Arcade

Play a variety of characters you shoryu punks to get the most variety :D

small price to pay for the best version of SFZ3.

It's perfect.. end of story.

The PSX and DC ones were SHIT compared to the 4 meg Saturn version.

I haven't played any of the Sega versions. What makes the Saturn version better than the Dreamcast port?

Dramatic Battle - 1P vs. 2 CPU opponents. This was the one reason I liked the Saturn version best.

In addition to that, the arcade aspect ratio is preserved.

The Dreamcast version is an upgraded version of the Playstation port.

The Saturn version is a port of the arcade.

Notice in the PSX/DC versions, the characters are really skinny. In comparison, the Saturn has wider characters which mimic the way the Arcade does it. If you're an Arcade player, the PSX/DC aspect ratio will throw you off.

But really. In terms of timing, none of the 3 home ports are arcade perfect. It's just that the SS is the closest.

Nice, but i bet the DC version has superior audio and visual, at the expense of wider character models. Although you could argue the Saturn has a better controller...

Didn't Dreamcast have Dramatic Battle? I never owned the SS version, but I sure as hell remember playing Dramatic Battle mode before, with 3 totally different characters.

Yes, but it was 2P vs. 1CPU opponent.
