Gotta couple of questions for you guys regarding stimulus cheques and unemployment benefit

I have seen that everyone received a stimulus cheque. Is that a one end done?

Secondly, how much unemployment benefit do you guys get a month if you have lost your job?

Also, if you are not work but have been retained by your employer, are they still paying you or does the government cover it for them?

I ask because in the UK and France (I am from the UK, but live in France) things are happening like this.

UK, 84% percent of your salary is covered by the government upto 2500 per month.
France, 80% percent covered by the government upto the same level I think.

I ask because I get a sense that things are biting you guys badly being in lockdown and unable to work.

The stimulus check as of now is a one and done deal meant to stimulate the economy. Unemployment varies by state and how much hours you worked. We are supposed to get $600 + whatever the state gives us during this pandemic.

Speaking for my household only, but we received $3,900 from our stimulus check.

My wife's employer is paying all staff and telling them to stay home for the time being, so no income lost there.

I've been working about 12 hours less a week. My employer is using most of their 'bailout' money to give to people who have volunteered to work. So my pay rate has gone up enough that I'm only losing about $100 a week in lost income.

Still have not received ours so unknown, maybe because we are still working? Though the site says we qualify. Wife works at an Emergency Veterinary Hospital and I work as Director of Dining and Nutrition at a Healthcare Facility so our hours have increased.

Government unemployment payments are split between the state and (former) employer. Sometimes employers contest that if you were fired for a good cause.

In my state, full unemployment with the $600 included maxes at $1150 a week.

The amount of unemployment payment varies by state, but on average people get a bit less than half their regular weekly pay in most states per an article I read the other day. Obviously low-wage workers will be closer to full pay than high-wage workers who's weekly salary was way above the max weekly unemployment payment in their state.

That's not counting the $600 extra from the feds. With that some low wage folks are making more than they were.

i have yet to get any check and i live in the US. luckily i still have a job so i don't really need it.

our elected representatives have decided they don't want to work until May, so we just have to suffer in the meantime. but it doesn't demonstrate any kind of empathy or a willingness to help out, so when they go back to work they will likely just give their rich friends at the top a bailout.

unemployment is much lower than 80% from what i can recall. the US doesn't have a lot of social safety nets for this type of situation.

I'm still employed, working from home, but some of us are going to start getting cut if things don't let up soon.
