Apparently, having a gay friend is a trend for women. And for some men too.

Fucking Sex and the City. First that horse-faced Sarah Jessica Parker is foisted on us, now its turning gay men into accessories.

Oh, I didn't know this was directed at me. I was just pointing out that it's cool to live in an environment where gay indie kids actually do exist. I didn't mean to make it sound like a big association. Music is just one of the few things I could speak clearly about, and it's cool to have people that appreciate a lot of the same things I do. Most normal guys get turned off around hour number 2 of my "Diamond Dogs was the biggest letdown ever" rant.

White Man, you're in Seattle now, correct?

The Capitol Hill area is a good place for young gay people in Seattle, while there are the stereotypical clubs, I see many gay indie kids up there as well hanging out at Neumos and up on Broadway.

I'm straight mind you, but being around my gay friends has lent me the ability to correctly pick them out of a crowd.

As for straight people hanging out at gay clubs, yes, I go to Neighbours ocassionally. They stay open until 4am, it's a lot of fun (went there on my 21st birthday) and sometimes Em and I aren't ready to go home yet at 2am.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
What is it about pussy that you guys don't like?

Does it resemble an open wound to you or something?

What's up with everyone reacting to what Grizzlyjin said and calling it a false generalization? Go reread his post, he never said "All straight guys go through a phase", heck he didn't even say "most", he said "Lots of straight guys won't admit it, but they most likely had some questions about their sexuality."... I don't see how you can call that a generalization, sounds pretty fair to me.

They don't like pussy because they don't like pussy. It isn't a conscious choice which can be explained.

I mean, how come you don't like anal sex? Whatever answer you give is a rationalization -- the bottom line is that it doesn't work for you on a visceral level.

Exactly, and even after I had explained it. Christ. They really do take offense to something that's not even a blanket statement.

Star Power, I hope you're doing alright, it was only expected the such a topic would get flooded with ignorant posts, but it did start off people well and I hope you got the answers you were looking for.

Meh, some of you others are down right sickening. Questioning him cause he said he was going to break down? Do you not realize how hard it is to come to terms with? Did you even read the life experiences of the posters ahead of you? Calling him a drama queen for dealing with a serious issue in his life. That's just down right silly.

Yeah. I live like a half block from Broadway. And I'll be going to Neumo's tonite, actually.

Yeah, I've been to Neighbours a few times with my friends. The whole 4am thing makes it a pretty nice place to hang out. I also hang out around Bauhaus a fair bit. I really like the area here.

Going to the Decemberists, Deerhoof and Xiu Xiu show, eh? I'd love to go, but my body is reeling from the last week of shows/vacation/etc. (Ben Gibbard/Long Winters/The Girls/Damien Jurado/etc. on Thursday, DCFC/USE in Seattle on Friday, DCFC/Decemberists/Pixies/USE/Thermals in Bend on Saturday, M's game on Monday, Keane on Tuesday night), I need to rest for The Wrens tomorrow night. You going? I cannot wait.

We live in Queen Anne, but head up to Capitol Hill/Broadway every other weekend it seems.

No, I have to skip out on the Wrens tomorrow. I was only able to get one night off this week, and I chose Xiu Xiu/Decemberists/Deerhoof over The Wrens. It was a choice between going to a show where 3 of my favorite current bands are playing vs. going to a show where 1 of my current favorites is playing. That and I really want to hear those new XX songs in person. Any idea what the Decemberists are playing live? I'd be happy if they just did The Tain, but I guess it's almost time for them to be bustin' out new material.

I'm really excited about this show, heh. It's been a good past 7 days for music.

I think the whole questioning of your sexuallity bit is way over blown. I have never questioned my sexuality. It's been there for as long as I remember. I'm pretty much as straight as they come. I can however appeciate a good looking man and on occasion have been stuck by one. That does not mean I don't know what team I'm playing for. It's people that deny their own feeling that confuse themselves. I've always assumed that a guy knows he is gay just as strongly as I know I'm not.

I've seen the Decemberists twice in the last month or so (Bend on Saturday and Portland back on August 3rd), it was mostly new material with a few tracks from Castaways and Her Majesty. There might have been something from The Tain at the Portland show, I can't remember.
