"GAF" as in laugh. It could also be considered an allusion to the word "gaffe".

i usually can't stand it when people actually try to pronounce internet acronyms, especially when there's no vowels. People like that really need to stuhfoo.
 
I cannot imagine a instance in which I would ever need to refer to "GAFers" in an actual conversation.

I say "gaffers" in my mind when reading the word, though.

Yeah, I cant even fathom someone saying it another way. It's a real word, why not use it ya know? Gaffers who cant pronounce gaffer am crying.
