Have you been able to activate the DTS option in the DVD settings? I can turn on Dolby Digital, but DTS is always grayed out.

It worked with my regular PS2, maybe we're doing something wrong.

Just called the tech support number:

"The PlayStation 2 does not support DTS playback with movies. You may want to try out a game like GTA if you want to hear DTS."

FUCK THAT.

They advertise DTS playback on the box and then the system doesn't support it.

Since the PS2 doesnt do the actual decoding, why would the DISABLE it for DVD playback? All it does is pass the information to an external decoder.... thats strange. So it only does DTS for games?

Does the original PS2 do this as well? I just picked up a set of Logitech Z-5500, which does do DTS. I tried playing Lord of the Rings on it, but I didn't get the DTS soundtrack, but I just figured I was doing something wrong, and I havn't looked at it yet. It would be inconvienent if I had to use my PC for DTS playback in a DVD movie...

ps2 and pstwo both support DTS output to a reciever. to enable this you have to be in DVD mode and in STOP mode. then go in and change the DTS setting. hope this works, i believe this is what i did. cheers.

yeah its a headache to get it to work becuase even the owners manual is really quite useless, it does in fact support DTS, and I believe what Black mamba said is pretty much the correct way to go about doing things, remember though , have your reciever set to its digital auto , the dvd set to dts and the ps2 set to play dts. If all of these conditions are met then it should play , welcome to a world of pretty logos and slightly better quality.

That didn't work. Tried it already and the DTS was still grayed out.

i put in a non DTS dvd, stopped it from playing as soon as the FBI warning screen came up. am able to change the DTS option now. worth a shot...

Well I guess you have to put a shitty movie in the PS2 to get it to work.

Was trying to get the DTS to work for the Back Hawk Down disc. Nope, not even stopping it like Black Mamba said would work.

So I grabbed a shitty DVD, Matrix Revolutions, and it worked.

What is it with The Matrix and PS2 DVD playback?
