Rachel Bryk, of Dolphin Development Team, Passes Away

She died at only 23? That's very tragic.

Dolphin is my favourite emulator. The work she did on that was amazing.

You will always be remembered, Rachel Bryk. RIP.

Shit, a lot of mystery deaths in the gaming community the past six months. RIP.

I mean, shit, wasn't she responsible for most of the advancements with Dolphin that got it to finally having playable performance on mid/low range PCs?

No you're thinking of someone else. She developed Assisting Tools (for speedruns etc.) for Dolphin and was a TAS of TLOZ:TT herself.

Had a friend pass this past Friday that was only a few years older than me, I'm twenty nine. This too, damn really makes you think.

RIP and thanks for everything.

Jeeze... 23? What a tragedy. According to the post, she took on aspects of Dolphin no one wanted to touch, and the program was much improved for it. I know I've personally taken advantage of aspects of Dolphin she worked on. So damn sad that we lost a brilliant mind.

Just horrible. Especially at that age. I just set up Dolphin again on my PC to relive some Phantasy Star Online Ep. I&II moments a few days ago. :(

Just read about the reason, that's some seriously messed up shit.
Yup.
I originally typed out an somewhat elaborate post discussing her death and the events leading up to it, but upon review I don't think that this is the appropriate forum for that discussion. (Also, my source link was banned, which led me to doubt its legitimacy.) However, this is a tragedy in every sense of the word. She was clearly loved and her work touched many. Rest in peace Rachel Bryk, you are missed.

Hopefully she'll get a mention in the About Dialog. I don't know her, but looking at her code, she was a brilliant developer. Left us far too long.

The thing that really frustrates me here is that it's so difficult for trans people to get the help and support needed. There are a lot of charities and non-profits that provide support and counseling to the LGBT community, but the problem is that the main focus is on the LGB and far less on the T.

Even lumping them all together is problematic as the issues faced and the support needed by the transgendered community is different from the homosexual community.

Such a sad story, even worse is that there were 4 suicides in 9 days on the same bridge.Don't they have people watching for stuff like this on the bridge?

If someone is intent on commiting suicide there is very little anyone can do to stop them.

The fact this person has ended up in a place where they felt they had to take this course of action is the real tragedy behind this story.

Very sad to hear and my condolences to her family.

They do from what I read, but unless you're stopping everyone from crossing the bridge, it's very difficult to actually stop everyone that's intending to do so.

Some type of barrier would go a long way to prevent more suicides.
