They were concerned that employers, or whomever, would not look at the black students success as high as they would the success of people of races that did not recieve a racial advantage. One of them was on the track team and joked about it being like needing to give all white kids a 50 foot head start.
And again, employers (and loan officers, doctors, police, and we can go on) have been discriminating against black people for centuries now. I don't see AA making a substantial difference in that respect. As far as I'm concerned, the white kids already *have* the 50 foot head start, and if their steroid test comes up positive, they're forgiven for it.
As far as what republicans are doing for the black community they were able to argue the democrat programs were making things worse while the republican sponsored programs were much more successful....localy. No one was able to argue against them.
Where is this place, anyway? From what I can tell, republicans can't seem to do much to help *any* racial group, so I don't see how they could possibly benefit black people more than democrats.
