Is there a list of all the VR games? Also 2d games that got VR patched?

Thanks for letting us know. I really want to try it out now as it looks nice visually. My gripe is some of the fuzzy visuals in VR games.

Returning DriveClub after playing the demo. So many funner games for $40 and under.

Loving Tumble, Rez, and Playroom. Deciding between VR Worlds and Job Simulator now.
 
I'm just going to hold off until we get some full length, AAA VR games. I know it might be a while but I don't just want these relatively small releases.

I also noticed you patched in a 3D mode, thank you. Another title I can enjoy with my 3DTV, yes I do have the VR headset too. But more 3D titles are welcome, adding it to the pretty list with Trine/Trine2

Were you by chance at Sony Santa Monica for the playtesting? I think I might have met you and mentioned that I automatically felt like it was a speedrun game

I was on all 2D playtests, and was not present on PSVR playtests. We had a really nice pack of players - thanks!

I have some problems with the VR version of Bound (the camera) but the IQ is a sight to see. Really, it's the crispiest game on PSVR and it give me faith in the futur of the device. Stunning.

This. I'm at work and am aching to get home to play this again. It blew my mind. It has such charm and a sense of being there. Absolutely incredible.

These might be the best way to experience it though. I think it's awesome but there's no way I want to be in there for more than 90 minutes tops.

Yeah it was so good. The lurching forward was the first game to give me motion sickness though... probably because I was swivelling my head around like a loon trying to find little robots.
 
I know Farpoint isn't out yet, but I tested it with the VR aim controller, and I can tell you it's going to be high on the list....very high.
 
What I;m so pleased about is that the launch line-up is so diverse and they are literally throwing everythign at teh wall to see what sticks. The 2nd generation of VR games for PSVR is really where things will leap, they are basically testing things out to see what people like/don;t like.

For me, I spent about 5 hrs last night ploughing through as many demos as possible, along with Batman. In terms of my favourite's:

1. The Playroom platformer - They designed this like a proof of concept, but I found myself loving this game, as others have said. It was like being INSIDE Banjo/Mario 64. it was fantastic. I'm so pleased that people can make 3rd person work in VR because I'm much more a 3rd person gamer.

2. Allumette - I know it's not a game, but man, this demo blew me away. It's wonderful. Wonderful art style and animation. Again, proving 3rd person can work really well and that VR can be used to convey stories brilliantly. Please try this.

3. Batman VR - I loved it, despite it being a bit wonky in terms of room-space. The negatives = The camera lost me quite a few times, which shows the limitations of the tech. That said, the graphics looked great (albeit a little blurry up close) and I liked the change of pace in terms of batman doing the detective stuff. I consider this a resounding success in terms of proving that the detective-style slower games can really work well.

4. RIGS - I can see this doing well. Apart from an initial stomach lurch right at the off, I settled into the movement really quickly. As a stand-alone game it's good. As a proof of concept, it's great.

5. Thumper. Holey moley. What an experience. Glorious to look at and more so to listen to. I'll be getting that too.


The disappointments were Eve and Kitchen. Kitchen because I 'd seen it on a TV so wasn't surprised by anything and actually didn't really feel immersed, and Eve because the resolution really struggled and the whole thing was over in about 2 minutes. Really too short to decide if I'm giving them my money.

Overall, i think that those games going for "detail" like Eve will not do as well as the cartoony/stylised stuff. The tech just isn't there. In terms of gaming, I can see PSVR becoming the Nintendo of VR. using lower tech but buttressing it with really strong art style and games. I certainly think this would be a strong strategy.

Driveclub wasn't disappointing as I wasn't really holding up much hope for it. For me, whilst being technically a different game from the full one, it shares one characteristic, it feels lifeless.

Overall, I'd encourage everyone to get it if they are on the fence, there's something for everyone.
 
From the PSVR Giant Bomb stream, it looks like Playroom VR is such a great experience.

Really innovative use of the social screen too, it seems like a great family game.
 
Only tried the demo disk so far, based on that I'll be getting Rigs, Thumper and maybe Rez. Might get Worlds as well although the demo didn't show the games I'm interested in.

I also liked Drive club, but I think I'll just wait for Trackmania's VR patch (Nov 8th).

Haven't tried Resident Evil yet but I have high hopes for that game.

Almost forgot Gnog, really enjoyed that one for some reason.


Based on this thread I need to look at Playroom, ignored it so far. Does it need / benefit from Move controllers though?

Also seeing lots of mentions for SuperHyperCube. The demo looked nice (graphically) but seemed super simple to play. Does it change much when you get further in?

And Bound. Been saving this for VR.


Maybe it's just because I haven't played a demo disk for a while, but spending more time loading than playing was a bit rough for a first impression. Listing them out here actually reminded me that there's some good stuff in there.

They allegedly didn't even show the best game either. People racing about the platformer.
 
Anyone fancy making a straw poll or something for this thread? I would but i'm on mobile, and i'm not sure if there's a site like that which aggregates rankings.

Didn't play it (i'm getting the psvr today or tomorow) but from what i've seen i'd love that game to be a full game, or at least other games like that. Top down 3d view is so great in VR. i'd love a classic zelda type game like that where you can see the tiny world at scale.

There's a Zelda-like game on GearVR. It uses a fixed (position) camera with 1 room at a time. Light puzzle/combat/RPG elements. It's very nice, I forget the name unfortunately.

Probably the best I played on that system, will have to try out Playrooms later.
 
Always wanted to see more 3rd person VR games. Just drop me in the world and let me control the character. Deff works so well. Wayward Sky made me want a Ratchet and Clank VR game

That makes me remember the actual best game i played with the dk2 was a top down, vertical japanese shooter :) It was amazing, with the bullet patterns being 3d and all.

i'm so worried VR becomes hostage of narrow minds and never delivers what it should :(

1-6 are well worth picking up (and downloading, in Kitchens case). Super Stardust is hugely disappointing. Boring, graphically awful, not SS at all!

Kitchen, REZ and Thumper have been the standouts so far. Yet to try The Assembly or 100ft Robot Golf.

Is there a way to change the camera to track instead of constantly tapping the right analog stick to change camera? I looked in the options and saw something that said alternative camera or something like that but didn't notice a difference.

The platformer is unbelievable. It's probably in my top 3 at the moment. I was also impressed by Tumbler, not because of the stacking part, but the puzzle with the mirrors. Loved the physicality of it. And Super Hypercube is super clean, loved the "Aperture 1977" look of it.

Alternate camera rotates the camera in a direction where Princess is facing. Normal one just moves you forward to character.

We will probably make a slider of the distance between player and camera that the camera will snap. So you could set it to a short distance.

The follow camera is a biggest problem since our character has a variable speed based on if you:

- walk
- run
- jump
- roll jump (top speed)

It changes all the time, and camera reaction to it would be devastating to your stomach. The platformers that have simple follow camera like the one in PlayroomVR, have characters that move only in one speed with high acceleration between stop & go.

It's a really hard topic :).

For better orientation I think that we will also make a slider for camera rotation. Currently it's set to 45 degrees, but maybe 22,5 or even 12,5 will be better for some of you.

The topic is fresh and we feel like Columbus touching new grounds :).

Still we are going to update it and I need to gather more feedback.
 
The stuff I've spent the most time with so far:

1. DriveClub - immediately bought the game after trying the demo. felt so good looking into turns and using my mirrors as you would in real life. yes the graphics are downgraded from the full game, but I didn't really care, as I was having so much fun with it. I need to play this with a wheel.
2. Rez - really feels like THE definitive way to play Rez
3. Thumper - came in with no prior knowledge of the game and was blown away by how intense the music and effects blend together to create this sort of tracelike feeling - I'm sure Rez gets this way too, just played the demo of both but I noticed myself bopping my head along to the beat in both games
4. Until Dawn Rush of Blood - VR is a REALLY effective horror game platform
5. EVE Valkyrie - doing barrel rolls really makes your stomach turn, as I think it would in real life, but I worry about the gameplay depth
6. RIGS - the controls disappointed me. having to use both right stick and head-look confuses the brain, and you sacrifice accuracy in total head-look aiming. also the only game to really make me sick just by being in the world. I want to give it another shot though, as I thought this would be my killer app

Thank you so much for your response. I purchased Bound when it was first released and enjoyed it halfway until I heard that it was getting the VR treatment! So I stopped playing until yesterday and really enjoy the static camera visuals. But it's such a pain to keep tapping the right analog stick to keep up with the character. I understand the reasons for it, as some people may wind up with their dinner on their lap. But I'll wait to try this new method you guys are conjuring up. Thank you for making this game. I can't wait to finish it in VR!
 
1) Playroom VR platformer { This should be full game, not since Tomb..I better say Mario 64 have I've been Wowed, and its so clean}

Still need to try other games on the demo disc, but so far:

Rigs so far is only so low because it was due to the time I've spent with it so far. Waiting on Gamefly to send me over full copy, but I can see it going higher.

Playroom VR, has been fun so far, especially for a free game to demo things. The platform game reminded me of Mario 3D Land immediately. Extremely clean looking.

Rez was my first experience with the game. Was fantastic.

Thumper I had to lean back in my chair and my hands were constantly sweating. Easy to play.

Eve took a little getting used to, the lower resolution hurts it a bit, but to me it feels like just playing an old arcade game. Despite its flaws, still fun and worth the $20 on Amazon. I wouldn't pay $60 though.
 
Based on my experience
1. Rez Infinite - it's simply stunning, Rez is one of my favorite games ever and thanks to VR is truly mindblowing
2. Tumble VR - Didn't get to play the game when it launched on PS3, but HOLY SHIT the immersion (also thanks to the amazing rendering). The Move is not 100% accurate as you'd love to, but the game still shines with its unbelievable sense of physical perception.
3. Headmaster - Not only is so much fun (also when played with friends!), but the tech behind it is joyously accurate. Biggest launch surprise for me, as I didn't even know about this game until 3 days ago.
4. Job Simulator - I can't help but keep laughing when I play this. It might be the mindless fun, it might be the great writing, it might be the awesome voiceover, it might be because you really feel like you're there in some room acting stupid. Seriously, it's far better than it seems, and the tech while showing some of the limits of the Move still works pretty well.
5. Thumper - Another stunning game. I love how obscure and twisted it is art and sound wise, plus it really kicks ass in VR.
6. Batman: Arkham VR - Limited yet very clever example of a VR experience. The interface could be better at times, yet to see a game with these AAA graphics through a VR helmet is really something.
7. Ocean Descent (PS VR Worlds) - The perfect solution to showcase PSVR for the very first time, especially to non-gamers. I wish they included more diving points, I would seriously spend 60$ for a whole game like this, with way more content of course. Yes, I could even say no to the interaction, if it's so chilling and entertaining to just look around.
8. Rigs - Looks great and plays super nice, it seems pretty much the one and only AAA VR game out there... yet it's honestly a bit too intense for me. I still need to get accustomed to it, I hope to be able to kinda get things going by playing it a bit every day.
9. Battlezone - Again, looks amazing and I love the aesthetics, but the floating controls and the fast drifts had some impact on my stomach. Would love to play some more, honestly.

Agreed 100%

This little level easily rivals and maybe even outshines stuff that Nintendo makes, and I'm the biggest Nintendo fanboy ever.

I'm convinced we need a full platformer in VR and VR will be the best thing to ever happen to this genre.

Well, all my money went to the headset and VR games and the like so far. Then with Civ, Pokemon and FFXV all about to drop as well, I might not be getting around to TR until the end of the year at this point.

Do look forward to checking out their VR mode though once I do!

I don't know if it exactly outshines the stuff Nintendo makes, but I do admit it felt like it was right on par with it. If anything, it makes me really excited for some solid 3rd person platformers in VR. Long as they can of course keep that level of crispness to it.
 
I've only player Rez and the PlayroomVR platformer. Both are nothing short of fantastic and I recommend them without reservations. Rez gave me legitimate non-stop goosebumps, and with head tracking I was able to play it way better than I ever was before using a controller.
 
What I've played so far. Going to separate games from experiences..

Experiences
1. Ocean Dive - creates an amazing sense of immersion. you jump of course, but more than that.. as you descend.. and the lighting shifts, the audio shifts.. the sense of immersion in this title is second to none
2. Batman - Gives you a strong sense of what a proper Batman game could be like.. With that being said, I don't think it would EVER be reasonable to afford the development costs on such a game.. so this might be the most we ever get.
3. London Heist - I'm calling it an experience.. because the gameplay aspects are incredibly limited. However shooting in the office is quite clever through the ACTUAL friggin use of cover for the first time ever in a shooter. Still, it's an experience, and an insanely good one at that.

Games
1. Rez - Who thought 16 years ago that this game would be the epitome of THE VR experience. Amazing how well the original title holds up in VR. Then you load Area X and it kicks everything into HD (so to speak). It may not be the flashiest title out there.. but it's the first time I have ever felt transported to some place else, some place that simply could not exist in the real world. That you can convey that kind of experience (see above) with tried and true solid classic gameplay. This is easily the game of the launch.
1.00001 Playroom platformer - This game (well, level), shows why VR is so freaking compelling for other areas beyond just "OMFG THIS IS MIND BLOWING!@!!" Just something as simple as existing inside of the world of the platformer you are controlling changes things so immensely, while never feeling gimmicky or shallow (really, the controls in this game are among some of the best I've ever felt in a platformer). The first thing I thought of after finishing this was "OMG.. If LucasArts did this with a Monkey Island point n click???!?!?!" Keeping the gameplay in genres we know and love, while simply moving our view point from a window looking in, to actually inside of the world.. That's why I put this barely out of first spot.

I still can't say VR is "go. out. and. buy. now." at the same time I am guessing within the next 5-8 years it is how we will in fact be playing most games.

I wish Move was more responsive. Rez with Move as responsive as a Wiimote... could go down in the annals of gaming heights like WiiSports, GTA, etc) Still, Move is better than controller.. just feels laggy is all.
 
Didn't know about Bound, definitely interested in that, Rez, Thumper, and Batman.

Can all these recommended games be played well with dual shock 4? I don't have much interest in subpar 6 year old motion controllers, i.e., Move versus something developed for VR like the Occulus Touch or Vive controllers.
