December 07, 2004 - In a brief statement today, Ubisoft has announced that Rayman DS, originally scheduled for release during the system's launch window of November/December 2004, will now ship next year.

According to a Ubisoft representative, "Ubisoft wants to ensure the game is the best game it can possibly be. [The North American version] will be the same as the European version," already scheduled as a launch title in that territory.

I'll bet they use this time to upgrade the graphics... the next batch of screenshots should look exactly like Rayman 3.

As I predicted...

...I thought it was more than a little odd that the release date was around the corner and yet there were so few pics of the game in action. There was also barely any information on it.

Wow. This was one of the few games worth getting. One of my favorite platformers of all time (at least I thought it was a port).

Very disappointed in this news. This is confirmed to be a port of Rayman 2, right?

It has not been confirmed to be a port to my knowledge. It was expected to be a port since every picture we have received from Rayman DS has been an exact replica of something in Rayman 2.

But now that it's delayed, I bet they will be adding some neat stuff. Maybe intensify the touch screen support?

*Sigh* Oh well. The delay is not totally unexpected considering how little information Ubi has released about Rayman. Still dissapointing though, considering how thin the DS's launch library is.

It was kind of telling when the first screen released -- two months before the game was supposed to ship -- was fake.

the fact that the first screen shot was an n64 shot should have been an indication that this game was not ready for november.

Good for UbiSoft. I wish Namco Hometek had delayed Mr Driller DS (to add DriStone and single card multiplayer back in) and Ridge Racer DS (to add the original RR collision and pick up a capable graphic design intern) as well.

Jesus, Nintendo... This is what you get for only releasing one title for the year and letting your Third Parties have a wide berth. There's a lesson to be learned here.

EA - Ports GBA Sims game w/ few enhancements.
Releases Madden that its developers all but denounce.
Delays Tiger Woods 3 Weeks.
All games priced $40.

Activision - Releases graphically impressive Spider-Man 2 game w/ mediocre gameplay @ $40.

Ubisoft - Ports Ngage Racer.
Makes ugly dating sim.
Manages lowest score EVER in EGM w/ Ping Pals.
Delays one potentially good 3rd party game in launch lineup.

Namco - Craptacular job done porting Mr. Driller.
Ridge Racer exists mostly to make PSP look good.

... and this is coming from a big Nintendo supporter! At least there's Feel the Magic. :lol

I refuse to comment until I see it for less than $40. It's useless to me at that price.
Yeah, $40 is just too much. EA and Activision might be able to get away with it, but what's Ignition thinking. :/
