RE4 delayed? EB has 2/1/05 release date

I didn't realize that EB was the final word when it came to release dates. EB is the last place that I would expect any sort of factual information.

Didn't eb do the same thing about a month ago too?
Then Capcom responded that they were comitted to a "winter 2k4" release date.
Anyhow, gamestop still has a 2k4 release date.

Yah but early next year is empty, this holiday is about as full as you can get with big releases. I'd say it'd be a smart move to delay it. That way they won't have to compete directly with all the big releases this holiday, and then they'll be able to get Nintendo's full marketing support.

The official word from Capcom is...The release date has not changed.

The word from Valve was that Half-Life 2 was coming out Sept 30th 2003...

We know how THAT turned out. ;)

Just like MGS:TTS!!!

I'm curious as to where people go to get their release dates. EB has been the one I check the most because they tend to be more accurate than IGN and Gamespot (and updated way more).

Ofcourse there's one or two dates in question but as a whole EB has done me no wrong. If there's a better alternative out there...praytell.

This was the main GC game I was looking forward to, but a few months wouldn't be too big a deal for me personally, but I could see where it might hurt the Gamecube's holiday season.

I don't think Capcom can afford any sort of delay. DMC3 will be there as a backup but there's an equal backing on RE4. C'mon Shinji Mikami, keep those devs going!

Managing this holiday season will be a tricky one. There are so many AAA games coming out (Halo 2, GTA, GT4, etc), that RE4 might be trampled in the process. Even on the GC, there's still Star Fox, Paper Mario 2, Baten Kaitos, and Metroid Prime 2 which may or may not steal some of the spotlight from RE4. It might be a good move for Capcom to move it into 2005 just as long as they have a really good ad campaign to back it up, and leave Nintendo to market Metroid Prime 2 as the really cool game to own in November.

I think that might've been the problem with the Xbox in NA last year. So many franchise games came out on the system, they kinda killed each other saleswise. Same with the GC in Japan.

a delay shouldn't hurt RE4, if it turns out good it should be able to sell no matter when it comes out, its not like its some new unknown title like BGE

I doubt Baten Kaitos will make much of an impression, its probably gonna get lost in the holiday shuffle

IGNPS2 reported that Devil May Cry 3 will be delayed into 2005 a while back didn't they?

If that's the case, then Capcom will get lost in the holidays - Killer7 won't do much and Viewtiful Joe 2 will not be able to hold out much, even between the two systems.

Is Killer 7 still coming this year? I completely forgot about it.

Looks like Capcom got their shit pushed in by GTA:SA, Halo 2 and MGS3.

I wouldn't complain about a delay though, I have enough games to buy between October-December to keep me occupied.

OK, so if RE4 is delayed into 2005, alongside K7, VJ2 and DMC3...

Capcom's doomed. :(

Nah, if Capcom survived the fall of 2002 and the entire 2003 bomb year, they'll make it through this fall easily.

Capcom survived 2002 because RE0 managed to sell well enough in the U.S. and especially in Japan, alongside Capcom Japan's RockMan EXE 3. 2003 had DMC2, Viewtiful Joe and many other smaller titles such as RockMan EXE Transmission, P.N. 03 and Chaos Legion and at the end Capcom did extremely well with RockMan EXE 4 and BioHazard Outbreak. They have to have at least one big title to support them.

That would suck for you PAL gamers, seriously. It sucks having to wait for such an awesome game.

Even if RE4 is delayed in the US I hope at least BH4 makes it out this year.

Then I am getting the BH4 , I need this game before x-mas!

I just wish they would release it already. The E3 demo was very well crafted, easy and fun to play, had lots of action and variation and stunning graphics. It will be interesting to see how much freedom the newfound 3D environment will bring though, at least the E3 version was pretty much on rails. Then again, most E3 demos are, to make it easy to the gamer. Nevermind, just give me this game.

What's up with Killer 7 btw?

IAWTP

Killer7 is still in development but its been in development for such a long time without an actual gameplay demo. When it was shown in 2002, it was like 10% complete or something. RE4 got itself a remodel a year later and was playable first. O_O

I know you were joking but MGS TTS is just a case of what happens when a game recieves basically no marketing (and no i'm not blaming Nintendo for it). Nintendo's already said they're going to help Capcom with marketing this, and Capcom wil obviously market it.

Konami should have done some of their own damn advertising with MGSTTS!!! They didn't even develop the game themselves. It's Konami's fault the game didn't do as well as it should have.

They both could've done more with the marketing, but its too late for that now. They've both got important things to focus on now.
