RE4 PS2 has a release date

Unless it has some extra like Two-Player Co-Op, I'm not going to pick it up. Watered down graphics, along with the PS2 controller, when I already own RE4 on the Cube...Doesn't sound too intriguing. Anybody that's waiting for this to be ported to the PS2, and can buy and play the Cube version, your missing out.

Just two weeks and we'll know about it.

Look at the key - that color blue background specifies "network game"

Interesting! Downloadable weapons would rock! I hope it's something like that.

Edit: Boo, Elios killed my dream :(

Huh sorry :) :D
But maybe there are better dreams to have than downloadable weapons as more intriguing story with new cutscenes, new sections to play, more costumes etc.

Indeed my friend! I'd like the same thing as Code Veronica X, new and extended cutscenes + more :D

I'd buy it again if it had more scenes/cutscenes. It's my favourite game in years so any way to experience it again is good to me

I'm hoping they add in my cut scenes, make the ending longer, add in more levels to the Mercenaries mode, and make all the characters from the Mercenaries fully playable in the story mode...

...and then also release the game for the Game Cube and/or the Xbox, so it won't like shit. :D

I'm joking. I love RE4 - it's the best Cube game ever, IMO. But it is a little silly to rain scorn on the PS2 version before it's been shown, non?

Yeah, it's not that great to criticize RE4 PS2 before release. I still think it won't look that great compared to the GC game, but it should be a fine port nonetheless. :)

Bitter? Yeah, I'm real bitter about having played through the GotY twice while people too cheap or too stubborn to pick up another console are waiting. :lol

I do think people saying the PS2 version will be crap are setting themselves up to be owned, though. There will be small graphical downgrades and longer loads, but it's not gonna be unplayable or anything.

I'd buy the PS2 version if it had a true widescreen mode. That'd be the only thing they could add that would make me take the plunge, though. Seriously, RE4 as it is, some minor graphical issues aside, is pretty much a perfect game. Adding cutscenes or whatever could only hurt its feel as a perfect product.

It's fact that the GameCube can push more polys than the PS2. Therefore it is safe to assume that the PS2 version of RE4 won't look as good as the PS2 version. It doesn't help that half of the RE4 team isn't with Production Studio 4 anymore either.

Actually the PS2 has more brute force than Gamecube as a polygon pusher and has also much more fill rate.
Gamecube on the contrary has better texture compression and can handle in hardware with ease a few effects that PS2 can't.
I think that albeit not 100% identical to the Gamecube version,RE4 will still be one of the most impressive PS2 title from a graphical standpoint.
People expecting downgrades as in,let's say,Max Payne PC->PS2 will be hugely disappointed IMO.

I dunno man, do you even know who is porting it? What if Capcom signed it off to n00b Korean team? Then it would worse than Max Payne PS2.

Jarrod posted a thread with Capcom's upcoming studio works.. Studio 4 is handling the port, so it should be very good. I doubt Capcom will fuck up such a huge game. It's their biggest and most important game this gen.

worst case senario 8)

that guy doesn't know jack shit. Capcom hasn't announced anything about the PS2 version since releasing PS2 version confirmation letter last year.

ps2 version will be on 1 dvd, meaning i wont have to get up to switch discs

therefore, ps2 wins automatically

I thought the disc change nicely emphasized the huge turn the game took, but that's just me.

I want to see the RE4 port fail abysmally and cut corners like crazy because I'm an asshole more than a nintendo fan, but I think it'll be competent enough, Capcom has plenty experience on PS2 and it should turn out fairly well, if they threw in awesome extras I'd consider getting it cheap

I have no doubts that the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 will sell well. It just bothers me that the game is already out, and there is people that have a Cube that won't buy it because they are waiting for the PS2 version. The game is easily one of the best games of the generation, and you shouldn't wait to play it. Unless there's something incredible planned as an extra in the PS2 version, the GC version will come out in top in terms of quality.

I hope this time EA dont blow things up like they did with Burnout 3(and now 4 too) for gc and brings this Black game to GC too if its that really good....

Yes, that's why I hope those bastard who won't buy a Cube for this game or have one but won't buy this game for it because "teh cube is kiddie" get a crappy port because they deserve it. Of course there are people who don't have enough money to get a Cube, so that's why I am disregarding them.
