RE4 PS2 has a release date

Like you're really one to talk. :p
Well I don't hope for bad ports once a PS2-game gets ported to another console. That's gotta be the most pathetic thing I have ever read on this board.

This is incredible! I can't believe some of you are praying the PS2 port turns out crappy :lol

It just bothers me that the game is already out, and there is people that have a Cube that won't buy it because they are waiting for the PS2 version.

What gives you that impression? Why would anyone wait for a PS2 port when they already have a Gamecube? I'm sure majority of the people waitng for the PS2 version do not own a Cube.

No, but you constantly bait Nintendo fanboys and you're constantly laughing at your own lame jokes (in other threads). You think you're Drinky or something.

Oh, and the whole thing about preordering RE4 for the GCN and then suddenly, while the game is being shipped to your address, you decide to sell your Gamecube. Fabricating such stories is pretty pathetic if you ask me. But really, it wouldn't be such a big deal if you weren't such a hypocrite.

I decided to wait for the more complete version!

lol what makes you think it's going to be any bigger/longer? :lol The game is already huge and probably takes 16-20 hours for a good run through the first time. How much more do you think they could add during the conversion? A few two minute cutscenes? An extra room or two?

And that's ignoring the likely downgrade to convert it to the PS2 meaning you might get an inferior version

I don't know, i'd be pretty shocked if it's just a barebones port. but then again, this is friggin Capcom here

There is some guy here, can't remember his alias, and his tag is "Fucking Retarded". He was someone who was waiting for the PS2 port even though he had a cube.

He even got the tag as a result of the thread where all of that was discussed.

that guy doesn't know jack shit. Capcom hasn't announced anything about the PS2 version since releasing PS2 version confirmation letter last year.
Fuck you too. I specified RE4 PS2 being the lone game I wasn't sure of, though common sense dictates that PS4 being the most likely canidate for a port. It's possible the port could be handed off to PS1 or PS3 as well, or outside the company even.

Haha mature aren't we? This is all baseless speculation; you know nothing about Capcom's internal workings.

Oh and I said “that guy doesn’t know jack shit.” I didn’t flame you or anything so you better watch your mouth.

Actually the PS2 has more brute force than Gamecube as a polygon pusher and has also much more fill rate.

This factoid is useless when you realize the devil is in the details.

I'd consider it if it had different ending and/or added cutscenes. There is especially one latter part where they could have branched a bit. That is
when Leon is overcome by the virus, attempts to strangle Ada, then Ada says they need to get him cured, which could have branched to more between Leon and Ada
.

Aside from that, the game and story really is already packed to overflowing with weapon choices, boss fights, the shooting gallery, etc and looks and plays superbly in its GC incarnation.

Yes, that's why I hope those bastard who won't buy a Cube for this game or have one but won't buy this game for it because "teh cube is kiddie" get a crappy port because they deserve it. Of course there are people who don't have enough money to get a Cube, so that's why I am disregarding them.

No, this is grounded speculation... certainly even a lowbrow moron such as youself can discern the difference? Or has too much Square candy rotted out your cortex?

Anyway, I see RE4 PS2 going in 4 possible directions...

~Developed entirely by Production Studio 4, though obviously a differing team than the GC build. This seems most natural I'd say.

~Developed by Production Studio 1, handed off similarly to the DMC franchise. The Demento engine might be a good starting place.

~Developed by Production Studio 3, under Production Studio 4's guidance (a la RE Zero or Dino Crisis 3). This would be worst case scenario imo.

~Development outsourced, planning by Production Studio 4 (a la RE Code Veronica). This isn't too likely I'd say.

why the hell is this guy flaming me?

Damn, is the PS2 version more than just a port of the GC one? I just FINALLY picked up RE4 for the GC yesterday. I wasn't going to because I have a HUGE backlog of unfinished games... but then I picked up RE4 and Metroid Prime 2, $60 CAD for the pair. If the PS2 version is supposed to be a lot better (I hope not!) I guess I should have waited! Oh well, the game is awesome anyways :D

Also, does anyone have a scan (or maybe even a spare to sell!) of the alternate cover for RE4 that EGM put out? I was running around trying to find it until I realized that it was from an issue in FEBUARAY! :lol

jarrod I am sorry, I edited all my posts. I agree with you, this is high priority port that’s being done on the request of shareholders. It is highly unlikely that Capcom will outsource it to a Korean company.

Again, sorry about all the rude comments.

No hard feelings, I totally overreacted myself. I apologize... and deep down I like Square games too.

cool, and I don't really care if you Square or not ;) Everyone has different opinions and preferences.

Too bad they won't do an Xbox version. This forum would break after release as the GC vs Xbox graphics debate turned into a cock whirling madness-festival.

I can't wait for them to show RE4 PS2. I want to see how good it looks, what sort of extras Ps2ers get. This game is the pinnacle of excellence, hope its not too compromised because the game needs to sell sell sell.

Sequel PLEASE! (of course, its Capcom so it guaranteed but... :))

Haha I see jarrod's at it again, first he wants to speculate about Square Enix's inner workings and now he wants to try it again at Capcom! :lol

Oh and don't even bother replying, I've had you on ignore since you compared FFT to Hoshigami. What a worthless tool! :D

DUN DUN DUNNNNN

Tight on $$$ so it better goes Player Choice for GC in a few months. :D

Capcom's just stupid. Now that it's a multiplatform title, there's no reason why this shouldn't be on X-Box with maybe real ANAMORPHIC widescreen. Maybe we'll here something on that line comes E3.

oh and I agree with jarrod, it's probably being ported by an internal capcom studio. I don't know which one though.
