That's crazy if it's true, and I have no doubt they'd never let it go public if they could avoid it. Watch the doc Outfoxed to learn how these media conglomerates operate. That doc focuses on Fox, but most of them run the same way.

can't find any cases on lexis or westlaw with a sophia stewart as a party except one from alabama completely not related to this. Not sure if this is true.

Yep, hoax. this would have been all over the news if it was true.

I swear, if I hear another person spew that the Matrix is a ripoff of such and such movie that no ones heard of I'm gonna snap.

Let's be realistic, there's not really too many ORIGINAL thoughts left out there for movies. Star Wars ripped off just about everything from the 30'-50's...

If William Gibson and Alex Proyas haven't gotten money from the Matrix movies, I doubt anyone else will, either.

I can't find any california state or federal case involving someone named Sophia Stewart or Warner Brothers or Wachowski Brothers.

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
The case seems to have some basis in reality according to a quick google search however the Outcome = Hoax, nothing comes up in a google news search, and a settlement that big would be advertised everywhere.

The biggest proof of the outcome being a hoax is that the article on the outcome is from October... this would have made the major news nets LONG before now.

everything I see from a google search are various articles citing each other and the same circle of message boards. That's not much proof of anything to me.

But Margaret Marrow is a real judge in CA, that's encouraging.

Just read the first few pages of her script, laughable bad, but certainly not damning to her case.

Oh, and I like some of the comments from forums about her, "if I were her, I'd only claim to have written the first matrix movie."

According to the Matrix Explained forums, what she has won is the right to proceed with her case (Warner et. al. sought to have it dismissed), she has not won the case or any money yet. Apparently the paper printed a correction later.

my thoughts exactly.
its an old story (apparantly), nice piece of spin at the end, 'AOL own 95% of media so you will never hear about it...'.

realistic update Bregor. 2.5 billion seems amazingly excessive. almost as excessive as the traffic that site got from the story i guess.
media companies eh? whether big or small....

Total bullshit. And Terminator 2? Hasn't Cameron already explained (and paid / credited) Harlen Ellison as his inspiration for Terminator?

Then let's just throw out this crap about copyrights and intellectual property.

the lead character of Stewart's script was the leader of the galactic rebellion though... will this open up further lawsuits?

kidding aside, any scifi by the name of "The Third Eye" would hit the bedrock just about as fast as her courtcase when it's tossed.

If anything, GOD should be suing this woman and the wachowskis! :lol

Nonsense, and the fact shes including Terminator? rofl. Its no big secret the Wachowskis used many influences to craft the Matrix movies (Gibson being the primary one, and hell he liked the first movie!), and this Stewart woman most likely used many of the same to write her 45 page Fanfic. If this womans so confident about her case, shed release her entire story, not just two pages which suggest absolutely nothing. Anyways this has been floating on the net for a few years now, I wouldnt pay mind to it.

Hey she should also sue the guys behind Jet Li's The One!

Alex Proyas
?? The Wachowskis were working on the Matrix since the early 90s and were well underway with production (I want to say started late 97-early 98) when DC came out. Let it go people....not to mention they were both being shot on many of the same sets in Sydney.

Cameron explained the Harlan thing in a line in Terminator 2 that I'll paraphrase for you...

Psychiatrist
"He says a robot travelled through time to try to kill him."

Woman
"That's original."
