What's more troubling to me is that there's a big audience for this stuff, normal people don't regularly watch abusive/humiliation stuff - but maybe humanity is even more fucked up than I thought.

I don't remember something like Jackass ever going this far.

5.5bn people have internet access, and a little over 4% of people (1 in 22) are estimated to have psychopathic traits. Lots of folks to be potential content creators and viewers of stuff like this.

Be careful out there, non-psycho people.
 
This is the end result of no morality existing online. The coolest thing you can do is never be offended or make a fuss anytime anyone says anything offensive, or else you "lose." Fast forward that tenet of internet culture 15 years and suddenly you're all watching someone get tortured for fun for years until they're dead. The screen truly does break something in people's brains.
