My brother witnessed a fight that was ended abruptly with a body slam... the victim was motionless (stunned and astonished I would guess) and then groggily rose back to his feet

I imagine this stuff would be pretty painful

Questions:

Does this behaviour happen often?

Would a clothesline really work? I don't think it would (unless maybe the guy was looking the other way)

Why don't we see more wrestling moves in movies?

The Sharpshooter hurts like a bitch. :lol

It would hurt like hell in the streets, but not in a ring. I imagine the moves aren't used more in movies because they can be incredibly hokey. Especially since they're usually performed just like they are in a wrestling ring. If someone suplexes a guy in a movie, he'll actually hold him up in the air for 3 seconds or so. @_@

Sure, if you do it right. If you do it wrong you just look like a tool. Like the chode in the picture above did when he tried it on Will Sasso all those years ago

The half and full nelsons are practical moves for restraining a person though. I used it on a buddy of mine once and :lol

Now, if NLB2 weren't banned, he'd come into this thread describing various BJJ/sub grappling submissions ;P

Slams do work on occasion. Ask Ricardo Arona...

Is that the Rampaging man?

I wish I had the clip where he slams some dude like that 3 times in a row...

Ive seen that... and it is great.

After the first one, you are like... whoa, another powerbomb.

After the second one, you are like... cmon now, that is just mean.

When I thought he would go for four, I sounded like JR on Raw... *Bells Palsy voice* Jesus Christ Almighty, enough is enough *Bells Palsy voice*

It's not the same but when I was at high school we used to do wrestling moves during PE classes :lol Watching someone get belly to back suplexed during a rugby match is the funniest thing you'll ever see :lol

Figure4 – Hurts a bit
Texas Cloverleaf – Hurts Like hell
Ankle Lock – Nothing much

For the other “impact” moves I have done and received them all but they were inside a bouncy castle so I don’t know. The castle broke after I did Flairs Trademark been thrown of the top rope and the minute I hit the floor it split open and started hissing losing air.

Smells faintly of rancid stilton.

But how did he get out, I must know how to escape Chris Master's Master Lock....That money shall be mine.....

I think you just stand there until he gets bored of restraining but not actually hurting you.

I once got in a physical fight with my mom, and she can verify that a suplex hurts.

Note: I didn't hold her in the air for 3 seconds, either.

I have a friend who's ended a couple fights with a bulldog. He also once Diamond Cutter'd a kid who had already lost a fight against one of his friends.

Speaking of which, can someone please unban him? We need as much participation in the MMA threads as we can get. I really think he's served his time.

The chop can be one of the most brutal moves i've FELT i had a bruise of a hand print in my chest for a couple of weeks, 'i bet JBL's chest would have been sore after his match on smackdown last week'

Yeah, my ex was kinda questioning things last RAW, so the Figure 4 and Ankle lock were applied on her, and she didn't question after that:p

How the hell is it that this thread has multiple replies not about "I suplexed my mom" since the statement was made?

If you do the figure-4 right and lock it in tight it hurts real bad. Sticking their own leg across their knee and then being able to squeeze them with as much leg strength as you can. It's brutal, though I couldn't imagine anyone being able to put it on in a fight. Only in fun to those who think they could handle it.

I think bjork was kidding. I think he was. Your MOM, man??!

Anyways, this:

looks pretty painful, or pleasurable, depending on who you talk to.

I used a Tazzmission (the actual name escapes me) on a shop lifter who slammed my wife into the wall.

He ran out of the mall with 2 leather coats from Wilsons in his hands, pushes my wife into the wall and my adrenaline kicked in. Chased him down and finally caught him and then locked in the Tazzmision. He was gasping pretty damn hard, but I kept tightening the hold until we got back into the mall and the cops came.

Come to find out a week later that this guy was part of a NE Ohio shoplifting ring that had stolen over $25,000 worth of stuff. His buddy who was supposed to drive him off fled when he saw said buddy in a submission hold n the hood of a car.

That was my good deed for the year.

Long story short, Tazzmission hurts like hell when applied by a big guy like myself.

You are the hero of the day.

First tragedy, then farce.
I be a flatliner/rockbottom type move would hurt like holy fuck if done for real and on concrete. Also, I can personally attest to this from a bad backyard wrestling experience in high school that taking a Pedigree off the top of a 6' ladder hurts very much.. as does the landing.

Nah, that was about 2 and a half years ago. Just thought I'd bring it up for the topic.

I have used a fujiwara armbar in fight before... they screamed pretty loudly. Mostly I just over power people.. but I like mixing in some submissions. PRACTICAL submissions, not drmatic stuff like a sharpshooter (even though if done correctly hurts like HELL!)

The thing with these moves is that they all, for the most part, when done correctly, hurt. However, if you ever go up against someone who actually knows what they are doing (some wrestlers, most martial artists) trying these "theatrical" moves will most likely end you up in the hospital.

It's the boring moves (armlocks, armbars, chokes, etc.) that are the most effective, practical, and sometimes, even the most painful.

Sometimes? No, all the time ;) :D

I love the DDT. How Jake The Snake came up with it was classic.

Jake the Snake has the guy in a front headlock during a match at some random location... he then slipped and fell on his back, bringing the guy with him. The crowd reaction was HUGE because it looked so devestating. Jake looks around like 'what the hell' but his opponent was quick enough to sell it. And so the DDT was born.

What was his finisher before the DDT?

Was it the Sak fight? I only remember 2 slams in the Igor fight.

The Boston crab (obviously the move that the Sharpshooter came from) hurts like a bitch...made a few guys tap out to that move.

And I can't believe someone said the ankle lock doesn't hurt...obviously you've never had it applied to you. I've used it on a couple people, and it didn't take 3 seconds for them to quit.

And I had a figure four locked on me pretty good one time...felt like my leg was going to break in half. Putting someone in that submission is a lot of fun.
