Recent Russian skater drama at 2022 Olympics

Fare thee well

Man I was just working and caught this as I was walking by one of the TVs. This seems really mentally brutal for these athletes. The one girl was only 15. There was a lot of drama around the whole thing too with doping, cold shoulders from the coaches etc. You would have to read a bit to get the whole assessment of what was going on. Seemed like a lot.

ROC shouldn't even be here. I doubt the girl doped on her own. Her life is going to be ruined for this because of pressure placed on her from her coaches

Agreed. I don't think a 15yo chooses to dope by herself. I felt really bad for her. At 15, you should be allowed to enjoy your life more than this.

When I was 15 I was the stupidest mf on earth. I can't imagine being on the world stage making decisions and competing like that.

Also fuck the ROC

Russia. Doping. Name a better duo.

of course the girl is forced to dope by her coach and entourage. She probably doesn't even know she's taking PEDs at first. Coach was probably like "hey, take this protein shake."

In the end, the pressure did get to her. She fell from first to fourth after the final skate. And because she didn't end up on the podium, the whole scandal will be swept under the rug.

This has been on yahoo news all week. I'm sure her mom is in on it, saying it was probably due to sharing the same glass as the grandpa who uses the banned substance.

They really should just ban Russia from all competition. Whole Country is dirty and don't play by the rules.

It's unpleasant to see coach be cold, distant and ruthless. But the US Gymnastics team would have been a lot better off with such a coach.

there was so much talk about the PED positive skater it made it seem like she was going to win. and she also was 1st after the short program.

I didn't even know that there were 2 other Russian Skaters that were also insane. Russia almost sweeped #1,2,3 for woman's figure skating probably the most prestigious of all the winter Olympic medals.

Then there was the drama with the silver medalist who landed 5 quads when no quads had ever been landed by females in the Olympics prior and also because she wasn't chosen for the team competition the only Russian skater to not get a gold medal.

you know they giving all three girls the same doping regimen too. I do feel bad for them. still better than getting sexually molested in front of your parents I guess

this drama will make for a really good movie one day though :3

I have watched all of the figure skating. In the team event she was at least 10x better than anyone else. Like Michael Jordan vs a bunch of high school girls. That was before the doping allegations. Obviously all of the shit around that torpedoed her if she didn't win the Singles event (still in my queue to watch) because she was WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than anyone else by a huge margin.

They are the biggest cheaters in the game. But those coaches are terrible people.
