No it's not a contradiction. :P

Bands I like:

Payable On Death(old and new)
Living Sacrifice
Project86
Blindside

Other(as genre examples)
System of a Down
Hawthorne Heights
Protest The Hero
Further Seems Forever

etc.

I'm looking for harder stuff(post-hardcoreish, not really black metal), but anything alternative and above is good.

This is a great indicator of what I'm looking for.

Not looking for Top 40 Christian radio, sorry. :P

I remember my Aunt giving me a Whitecross cassette back in like 1990. That stuff was sooooooooooooo bad. She wanted me to listen to them instead of AC\DC which she thought ment Anti-Christ Devil Child.

Oh i looked at jctv.. you should get this channel.. i guess at 1030 pm at night they a show called Hardcore Music Blender you can watch alot of this stuff on their...

Isn't Project86 more "punk" than hardcore/metal? At least they were 8 years ago when I last heard them... Hawthorne Heights? I thought they did a lot of easy going emo shit.

I like Chevelle, they said they are Christians.
One of the few "heavy" bands I can tolerate.

Skillet is the only Christian band I can tolerate...
You wouldn't if you heard them preach an unbiblical, hour-long AoG guilt trip in the middle of a fucking music festival.

My specialty.

Emery
Underoath
Devil Wears Prada
As Cities Burn - Son I Loved You At Your Darkest (Album)
The Beloved
Blindside
Oh Sleeper
We Came As Romans
Asking Alexandria

If you only try out a few you MUST listen to:

Oh, Sleeper
The Devil Wears Prada
Underoath

Trouble - Psalm 9
I haven't listened to anything beyond Psalm 9, and I don't know if they particularly count as christian beyond that point, but Psalm 9 is one of the best doom metal albums ever and it just happens to be somewhat christian themed.

I can't help you beyond that because I don't exactly go searching it out.

Also, I guess current Megadeth. Sort of. Kinda. Mustaine's a born-again Christian these days, so..

Heh, I think the OP is probably looking for stuff that doesn't go against Christian teachings and/or contains Christian messages. Otherwise I would have thrown a reco in for Slayer since Tom Araya is a Christian :P Hell, last I heard so is Glen Benton of Deicide, hehe.

BEATEN!

Red is awesome because they are widely known as Christian metal, but they dont force it down your throat, yet they figure out a creative way to weave Christian value into the lyrics in a clever way.

also see their newest ones:

You gotta be shitting me :lol

Deicide is a pretty awful band anyway, and Benton is just.. man, he's really just laughable. You can't take that guy seriously.

OP, there's Extol, Antestor and Horde too. Yeah yeah, I know they're sorta black metal all three, but eh whatever

Really? Do you every pay attention to their lyrics, it's pretty obvious in some songs.

Not really, no :)

(I meant I haven't really paid attention to their lyrics. I've only heard a few songs. It's just the guy I know who listens to them isn't really the kind of guy I thought would be into christian rock)

You might like King's X. They're recognized for being grunge before grunge and, are admittedly, more alternative than metal.

They're not a straight christian band (and they hate when people classify them as such)

but their drummer is on record as saying "We're not a christian band, but ever there has ever been a christian band, we are one."

Wrap your head around that and enjoy the (mostly) spiritually positive mix of beatles, blacksabbath, and gospel.

(lots of tracks to give you a pretty good idea of their overall sound)

Isn't their drummer christian?

Tom Araya, their bassist and vocalist. I'm still asking myself how is that possible.

Edit: Never mind. I just noticed for the first time that Kerry writes all the anti-religion stuff.
