Not really, no :)

(I meant I haven't really paid attention to their lyrics. I've only heard a few songs. It's just the guy I know who listens to them isn't really the kind of guy I thought would be into christian rock)
oh well it's possible he may not know either lol, it really isn't something you would pick up on unless you read the lyrics and even then, some things just go over people's heads

You gotta be shitting me :lol

Deicide is a pretty awful band anyway, and Benton is just.. man, he's really just laughable. You can't take that guy seriously.

Yeah, Benton is certainly a ... character heh. I did like a couple of Deicide songs once upon a time but, I haven't listened to them in years.

For OP, -core music isn't cup of tea. I know a few bands that could fall into the Christian thing:

Wicked Maraya - Cycles: [Watching Over]
Tourniquet - Stop the Bleeding: [Ark of Suffering]
Believer - Sanity Obscure: [Sanity Obscure]

Tom Araya, their bassist and vocalist. I'm still asking myself how is that possible.

Edit: Never mind. I just noticed for the first time that Kerry writes all the anti-religion stuff.

Ah that's right.

I think i've read/seen Kerry saying, on record, that he only writes it because it sells.

OP, there's Extol, Antestor and Horde too. Yeah yeah, I know they're sorta black metal all three, but eh whatever
What a shitty song of Extol. I liked this one.

Soul Embraced is worth checking out, had former members of Living Sacrifice.

If you really want to stretch things there's always the goregrind band Vomitorial Corpulence, who are (supposedly) Christian even with their gory lyrics/art.

I'd recommend much more that weren't hardcore/metal oriented though. Backworld is an excellent neofolk band with religious lyrics. Current 93 is inspired by Christendom as well, but some of their lyrics may bother some people.

Why the fuck has nobody mentioned Zao yet? They don't consider themselves a Christian band anymore (which is fine by me as I'm not a Christian), but still. Hell, they're considered one of the originators of not just Christian metalcore, but metalcore in general.

Check out pretty much all their stuff from "Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest" and on. It's all amazing.

The only Christian Metalcore album you need:

Narcissus - Crave and Collapse

249_05_14_2008_8_55_29_Narcissus%20-%20Crave%20and%20Collapse.jpg

Songs:

Blessed Coma
Talented Prey, Weak Hunter
Seveneight

Although not Metalcore, Tourniquet is a must:

Tourniquet - Where Moth and Rust Destroy

Amazing Thrash Metal with Marty "Megadeth" Friedman.

Songs:

Where Moth and Rust Destroy
Healing Waters of the Tigris

There is a Christian metal scene. If you don't like it, no one's making you listen to it.
Christian music has always confused/amused me a little, given I have a somewhat culturally alienated perspective. So yeah, I found it odd. Carry on though, I don't mean to be offensive (well, not particularly).

Trouble - Psalm 9
I haven't listened to anything beyond Psalm 9, and I don't know if they particularly count as christian beyond that point, but Psalm 9 is one of the best doom metal albums ever and it just happens to be somewhat christian themed.

I can't help you beyond that because I don't exactly go searching it out.

I came in to say Trouble. I think The Skull is one of the best doom metal albums ever (better than Psalm 9).

Another Demon Hunter supporter here. Especially since you like Living Sacrifice.

Demon Hunter - Undying

Metalcore also has a ton of great Christian acts.

Haste the Day - Mad Man

August Burns Red - Internal Cannon

As I Lay Dying - Through Struggle

Texas In July - Hook, Line, and Sinner

If you're looking for more, I'd recommend you just peruse Solid State Records' artist page, they pretty much only have Christian metal acts, with the exception of Emery, which I wouldn't consider metal.

What did you think would be the result of your Hurpy Durpy comments?

I listen to a lot of hardcore/post-metal and didn't know half of these bands were christians. Fine by me, as the music should be their selling point.

Not directly in the metal/hardcore genre, but the post-hardcore band Thrice enjoy their christian themes.

I remember my Aunt giving me a Whitecross cassette back in like 1990. That stuff was sooooooooooooo bad. She wanted me to listen to them instead of AC\DC which she thought ment Anti-Christ Devil Child.

this amuses me greatly. Mostly because I had the exact same experience in New Zealand and this was pre internet.

Thrice are amazing. Easily in my top 3 favourite bands.

I'm not current on any scenes really, but here's a few I've enjoyed in the past:

Saviour Machine
Extol
Believer
Zao (<='99)

I'll second: mewithoutyou & Mortification (Scrolls of the Megaloooooooooooth)

More Recent: Becoming the Archetype (based on Elegy being good)

Guilty Pleasure : Narnia
