I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
I've been in the mood for comedies lately, but it's so fucking hard to find good ones that I haven't seen, or haven't seen in a long while. These are the ones I've been rewatching lately...anything that may be obscure enough that I probably haven't seen and would fit my taste?...
The Big Lebowski (seen all the Coens movies, this is my fave of the comedies)
Office Space
This Is Spinal Tap (seen all their other mockumentaries)
Super Troopers (seen Club Dread)
South Park: BLU
Kingpin (seen all Farley bros stuff)
Napoleon Dynamite (yeah, fuck you, I like it)
The Office series (god this show is absolutely brilliant)

Any recommendations? It really is a sad day when you walk down the comedy aisle at Blockbuster and realize there's nothing left you haven't seen that interests you at all.

Bill Murray is in some of the best comedies:

Groundhog Day
What About Bob?
Rushmore
Ghostbusters
Yeah, I should have mentioned I have lots of other favorite comedies, but I just haven't been in the mood for some of them for some reason. Hell, Groundhog Day is one of my favorite movies ever. Now that you mention it I'd probably watching What About Bob, but I've seen it literally dozens of times.

>>What about Mel Brooks films.<<

hmm, maybe. Which are his best ones? I liked The Producers back when I watched it, and Blazing Saddles is great but I've seen it a bunch of times. And I can't count the number of times I've seen Robin Hood: Men In Tights.

Friday

There's Something About Mary

Airplane!

Comedies are very subjective, so it's hard to give a concrete recommendation. Those above are just some that came to my head.

Kung-Pow: Enter the Fist (seems to be a love/hate type though)
Young Frankenstein is a good Mel Brooks film
some of the earlier Naked Gun movies

Undercover Brother is often overlooked but is absolutely hilarious. Hopefully after Roll Bounce, Malcolm Lee will do a sequel to it. :D

Surely you've watched Spaceballs too, so I'll add Young Frankestein to that.

My personal most watched comedy is Maverick. Not the hilarious type of funny but I just don't get bored of all the trickery in the movie.

Maverick. That movie is basically forgotten. I've only seen it once in the theatre, but I really enjoyed it. I'd watch it again, and that's rare for comedies for me.

The main problem with comedies is that what was funny in 1975 isn't ALWAYS funny. They don't stand up to multiple viewings as good as some other genres do, and they seem to age quicker. The Kentucky Fried Movie was a lot more cutting edge humor when it was released for instance, now it's almost tame.

Hm. Well don't forget about Stripes if you're doing Bill Murray movies. That was awesome. Another comedy that's newer that I absolutely loved was i <3 huckabees. can't forget Dumb and Dumber or either Happy Gilmore OR Billy Madison. Also, you can't go wrong with either Waynes World. Those movies are great... especially the second one, as they really got more license to make the jokes they wanted to make instead of just what they knew was popular (case in point: mike meyers stopped at a stoplight, and a cop that is the guy from Terminator 2 knocks on his window, and wayne sees him and drives away screaming like a little girl, hahaha, or the kung-fu battle with cassandras dad).

hmmm... what else is good. history of the world, as well as monty python and the search for the holy grail. Get Shorty is more of a dark comedy, as is Death to Smoochy, but I enjoyed them both. On that note, I'd also look for Be Cool, the sequel to Get Shorty, when it comes out. It's pretty much more of the same but with more up-to-date pop culture references AND vince vaughan.

which brings up a good point. Old School strictly for Vince Vaughn. Might like other movies of his, too... a lotta people liked Dodgeball, though I didn't. Lotta people liked Starsky and Hutch, too, though I didn't. One flick which I found funny that doesn't get nearly the respect that I think it deserves is Shanghai Noon. The mannerisms of Owen Wilson and the slapstick of Jackie chan make that movie worthy of a rental.

Orgazmo
Airplane!
Top Secret
Naked Gun
Billy Madison
Dirty Work
Blazing Saddles
High Anxiety
Young Frankenstein
Space Balls
Duck Soup

I just bought the Wayne's World Complete Epic, fuckin awesome

Canadian Bacon
Brewster's Millions
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle
Fear of a Black Hat
Rat Race

some not mentioned
Dodgeball

"Bitch! You know what I want! Hahahahaha! I wanna talk to Samson! Fly me to the moon like that bitch Alice Kramden! 'Cause it's hard being black and gifted! Sometimes I wanna throw it all down and get lifted! "

I'm a fan of dark comedy, in that vein:

Death to Smoochy(hilariously dark)
The Cable Guy

or on the lighter side:

Dodgeball
BASEketball

Is Baseketball actually good, or are y'all just yankin my dick?

Orgazmo
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
BASEketball
Kids in the Hall Brain Candy
Wet Hot American Summer
Rushmore
Bottle Rocket

Kung Pow
South Park: The Movie
Team America World Police
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back or any one of the prequels
Dude! Where's My Car
Joe's Apartment
Without a Paddle

I whole heartedly second Wet Hot American Summer.
That movie kicks ass.

"Have a great winter! I'm gonna go hump the fridge."

"What?"

"Yes, folks, it's true. I said I'm gonna go hump the fridge. What you may not know is I also own a bottle of dick cream, I fondle my sweaters, and I often like to smear mud on my ass."

:lol :lol :lol

A few that don't seem to have been mentioned:

Clue (just absolutely classic)
Igby Goes Down (a bit on the dark side, sort of a dramedy I suppose)
Scrooged (another great Bill Murray flick)
Maverick (already mentioned, but it deserves a seconding)
The 'Burbs (classic, with Tom Hanks, Bruce Dern, Rick Ducommun, Corey Feldman, etc)
Dragnet (a bit cheesy, but the duo of Tom Hanks and Dan Aykroyd is great)
Galaxy Quest (!!!)
Trading Places (Eddie Murphy + Dan Aykroyd, enough said)

Thanks yo'z. Harold and Kumar fucking rocked, and all along I thought it was going to be some fucking joke-of-a-movie advertisement for White Castle. "BURN THIS MUTHAFUCKA DOWN!"

And I'd forgotten about Galaxy Quest until I saw it again a couple days ago on Comedy Central. When I first saw it I was really surprised at how good it was.

"I know, construct a weapon! Look around, can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?" when Tim Allen's being chased by a giant rock monster. :lol :lol

Prince Akeem: Good morning, my neighbors.
Voice: Hey. Fuck you.
Prince Akeem: Yes. Yes. Fuck you, too.

Prince Akeem: Sir, I was wondering, did you catch the professional football contest on television last night?
Cleo McDowell: No, I didn't.
Prince Akeem: Oh, it was a most amazing game. The Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. The Giants triumphed by kicking a pigskin ball through a big "H". A most ripping victory.
Cleo McDowell: Son... I'm just going to tell you this one time. If you want to keep working here, stay off the drugs.

The movie is still funny as hell even when chopped up and censored for TV. That is the sign of a perfect comedy.
