[The Infectious Paradox]

I like slashers mostly, but also ones with a creepy creature like babadook. I just feel like recommendations I find on Google are kind of eh. So hit me with some good ones!

Pandorum (2009) - Do you mind a little scifi with your horror? Definitely has a creature.

Frailty (2001) - My personal favorite horror film. Probably doesn't fit your needs, but it's rarely recommended for horror.

Sinister, hereditary, midsommar and evil dead 2013. Everything else was utter garbage for more than a decade

Most recently Terrifier 2 but that's more of a comedy

Hush (2016) - Slasher/home invasion film, with the twist of the woman being stalked being blind.
Laid To Rest (2009) - Chromeskull is too often overlooked as a franchise slasher for my liking.
Under the Shadow (2016) - If you don't mind subtitles, this marvellous little film, set in a Tehran tower block in the 1980s, falls into the creepy creature category.

May I recommend the 2002 British classic, Dog Soldiers. It doesn't have a creepy creature (although the werewolves are all practical and look amazing) it could be sort of considered "slasher".

I rewatched last night and was surprised by the edit to biker chick scene. I didn't know there was another version and for a moment I thought I may have imagined that part of the movie and got a little disturbed with myself. Luckily, the unrated version was on youtube to verify.

I really enjoyed Skinamarink. Definitely not for everyone but I loved how experimental and different it was.

It reminded me of the films Ethan Hawke found in Sinister except it’s like an hour and forty minute one.

The Silence of the Lambs. Perhaps the perfect thriller horror.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Part demonic horror, part courtroom drama.

Hereditary. I can't say much without spoiling things.

The Dawn of the Dead remake. The best movie Zack Snyder ever made and possibly the best "fast zombie" movie ever.

The Medium is one of the best horror films I've ever seen. The Dark and the Wicked was really good except that the last scene ruined the whole movie. Terrified I haven't watched I don't like slashers or silly clowns trying to be scary.

I would check out James Rolfe’s Monster Madness series; he touches on horror movies since the advent of film. I’ve personally used the series to check out movies I never knew existed. Highly recommended!

It really depends on what you're looking for. While I recognize why people love them, I personally don't like Ari Aster's stuff.

Green Room is fantastic and I liked Blackcoat's Daughter quite a bit. Bodies, Bodies, Bodies was awful.

The Sadness - A Taiwanese horror movie that was my favorite of 2021.

The Barbarian - If you want a straight up a horror monster movie.

Dashcam - Enjoyable found footage movie but the main character can come across as unlikable.

I love Asian horror I'll check out The Sadness. Barbarian I really enjoyed.
