Recommendation needed! Arcadey action isometric on PS5, no roguelikes!

So Path of Exile 2 is kicking my ass and giving me the tougher isometric ARPG experience. I'm with it. But I have traditionally avoided most isometric games due to my dislike of the camera angle. I want to get out of my comfort zone and dig into isometric a little, since I know there are gonna be some cool games to be played. I'd like to try something more straightforward and linear or level based. Open levels are cool too, but I want it to be dynamic action without stat grinding and builds.

My caveats:

It must be playable on PlayStation 5.
It cannot be a roguelike/roguelite.
It should feature arcadey combat action. If there is stat based loot and more traditional RPG elements like that, I'd like some easy difficulty levels to mitigate that stuff.

Does Housemarque's stuff count as isometric? I know they do action games from a higher camera perspective...

I know that modern iso games are very roguelike heavy, so I understand that options may be limited. Thank you for any recommendations!

Off the top of my head i can think of Nex Machina and Ruiner. Never played either but they fit the isometric arcadey combat.

For more action RPGy stuff, i can highly recommend Crosscode (though it's 2D isometric rather than 3D). There's Also The Ascent and Darksiders Genesis but never played those either.

Awesome, thank you. I check out all games recommended in topics like this.

The Ascent goes on deep sale frequently. It has a learning curve, so maybe not quite what you're looking for.

I enjoyed Redeemer (1,49 right now)
(There other game is nice too, 9 Monkeys of Shaolin (1,99 now), but that's a brawler / sidescroller)
The already mentioned Darksiders Genesis was also fun. none really great but still enjoyable.

Prob still miles easier than something like PoE2, just look at this skill tree:

I'm watching a trailer and it looks a little clunky. How does it play?

Nex Machina

Absolutely perfect Arcade fest. It's a twin stick shooter made before Returnal by Housemarque. The controls, level design, high score chase, it's all like butter. I've put 30 hours into it so far.

Highly recommend these two:

Good level design and puzzles along with fun isometric action. I think it leans more towards what you're looking for OP, because the non-stat grinder isometric games aren't as popular anymore.

Odd. I thought these were available on console? I'm searching PSN but I don't see them. Lame.

Hey! I'm enjoying POE2 merc gameplay too :messenger_beaming:
Like others have said in this thread Dead Nation, Nex Machina and Hotline Miami are great.

Check Enter The Gungeon and Nuclear Throne:

I know you said no rogue like but The Binding Of Isaac is really above everything else, you have to try it.
Enjoy!

NA, USA. I'm checking on the PS5 console store, if that matters. I didn't check via the app or the actual PSN website.

Tokyo 42 maybe?
pretty arcadey, no rogue-like elements, is a PS4 game

you do short missions that vary from sneaking into gang bases, to killing a bunch gang members, or assassinating people and getting away.

you run around open areas that have hidden items and secrets, and finish missions that give you cash that you can use to buy new weapons.
there's platforming and the camera can be adjusted in 45° steps.
