Edit : Found another article about it on the site .

Command & Conquer: Save alert 3 comes to the Nintendo D. That becomes with the fingers clicks on troops. Command & Conquer: Save alert 3 also comes to the Nintendo D. This was confirmed by an employee at game developer and - editor EA compared with Sen Gamer. And then I this to hear got the first was that by my head ` shot what terribly logical. Command & Conquer are a game range which twists for strategic oorlogvoeren. You play for a type of god (war god) and have the control concerning a number of troops: soldiers, tanks, planes, special wapentuig. These troops control you indirectly; instead of with the tank driving you the driver of the tank gives as it were a commando, for example ` I want that you drive b of point a to point and you attract nothing of enemies or hostile attacks. This does you impression the muisknop of the computermuis as the muiscursor on the tank stands. The same idea applies to all other troops. You click and click and click you to the victory. Years suffered then I this way from time to time spell Command & Conquer played I touched the baffle with my finger with the hope the troops this way of managing send. But expects unfortunately, such as - the troops only listened to the muisknop. Then I daydreamed concerning how skilful and tof it would be if I could the troops give with my finger commandos. I click on a tank, circle with my finger ten soldiers, tik elsewhere on the baffle and they start. Thanks to the creative breinen at Japanese company Nintendo, the bedenker of the Nintendo D portable game system, become my daydream reality. The bottom baffle of this game system is, as it happens, ` touch screen oftewel sensitively for contact. I can command now with my fingers troops. In fact is you really a god - you look down on the troops and control these troops - or nationals - with your divine finger. The finger which gets everything for each other and by nobody is ignored. Command & Conquer: Save alert 3 for the Nintendo D appears somewhere leaves in 2005, and officially not yet exists. The images which you do not see its moreover of Command & Conquer: Save alert 3, but of another Command & Conquer game.

Looks like you guys got your wish. You wanted RTS DS strategy games....now there might be Age of Empires and a Red Alert DS game

draw around units to select, brings up menu, touch menu to select, touch base to bring up menu, touch menu to select....

I think this could work if it was similar to the PC version with scaled down graphics!

Top Screen = ????

This would be most excellent.

Civilisation next, please! Civ would be perfect for DS. It's often that I catch myself thinking about what I'll do with my Civilisation next during the day, and I'd love to be able to incrementally do stuff instead of waiting till I get home. The turn-based nature would also suit "on-the-go" play perfectly.

I can't help but think one big touch screen would have been a better design choice with this system, especially with RTS games, but I'm eager to see what this looks like! Chances are both this and AOE won't be botched.

Here's to hoping at least one of them is online.

Nintendo D! Doomed!!

All jokes (or lackthereof) aside, this is fantestical news! Can't wait, this is the prefect type of DS game. Unfortunetly, with EA publishing this, we'll probably have the troups, cash and menu on the top screen and the EA TRAX mp3 player on the bottom.

I don't think it would make that huge a difference, though. I look at it like GCN's 24 MB of fast RAM and 16 MB of slow RAM. Of course it would've been better to have 40 MB of the fast RAM, but due to difference in pricing they're not equal options.

Likewise, instead of the DS having one 3" 256x192 touch screen and one 3" 256x192 regular screen, maybe we'd get a single 3.7" 312x232 touch screen, and as a bonus have it not fit so well into a folding design.

I'm Dutch...

"The strategic Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 won't only appear on the PC at the end of this year, but also on the Nintendo DS system. The version is supposed to be in development at a small, yet independant studio under supervision of EA Pacific. EA Pacific is used as the new name for Westwood, the original developer of the C&C series."

Thanks for the translation!

It'll be interesting to see what changes are made to the DS version.

EDIT: Think they'll bring back Udo Kier and Kari Wuhrer?

This is probably the best DS news I've heard in a while, I hope this develops into a solid title and properly takes advantage of the hardware. I think this would be a great app to push Nintendo's unnanounced online service, but even a simple WiFi mode would be nice.

Hopefully it paves the way for Warcraft 3 DS..

Nope

Edit
De afbeeldingen die je ziet zijn overigens niet van Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, maar van een ander Command & Conquer spel.

In short ( from the article ) ; it's not a real screen , it's from an other C&C game

Edit 2: Somebody else was before me ;) .

Now, don't get me wrong, everybody. I'm as excited as the next guy. But I've got to say I'm a little wary of who's actually making this thing.

"independent studio supervised by EA Pacific" makes me lower my hopes and dreams a little bit, initially. We can expect RA3 to be an absolutely amazing-looking game when it hits the PC, and obviously a lot of downsizing will be necessary to get it running properly on the DS. Doesn't this seem like the kind of port that would take genius to pull off, even by a well known studio?

Not only the graphics would have to be scaled down, but I'm sure also the way the game plays (due to button/resolution limitation).

It reminds me of when EA announced they were going to port the Sims to GBA. Thank God that game turned out to be really fun, but it just wasn't able to be the same game as its PC brother.

Still, the touch screen will probably be the saving grace of this RA3:DS port, I'm just afraid that beyond that, we'll have an only averagely scaled down game to play.

games like this are perfect for the DS. if it's is handled correctly, it will go online and become a home for genres that have traditionaly only worked well on the PC.. RTS, FPS and point and click adventures. the touch screen is ideal for games with mouse driven control schemes, and if you take it online, FPS and RTS are the most popular online genres, simply because the PC is the most prevelant online platform.

Quake DS

starcraft DS

tribes DS

counterstrike DS

it would be awesome.

I would kill for a port of Civilization III with the XP content to the DS.

That is a TBS game, and I can always sneak in a turn or half a turn whenever I'm free and I've been wanting a really deep strategy game.

... and yes, Starcraft DS would rock my house too.

Ds seems like it would fit alot of pc centric titles: Point and Click, RTS, Fps, etc. Hpefully Publishers take advantage.

Not to burst any bubbles, but they are the only ones bringing that news. Now I don't know their real connections, but I do have to say that people have to take this news with a grain of salt. Would be wonderful if true, but at the moment, I am pretty skeptic...

I'd buy a DS for Red Alert 3, no problem.

The whole top screen can be used for ordering the units around and attacking and basically all the action, while the entire bottom screen can be used for the buying of units and structures and all that.

It would be perfect.

I think it would be best to have a button to toggle the top and bottom screen between action and menu control.

Could work quite well, just use L to toggle top and bottom screens and D-Pad to scroll around the map. A, B, X and Y could also be used for shortcuts and such.

Should be easy enough to bring a Red Alert 2 style game to the DS, resolution being the only issue that could cause any problems (although, if you keep one screen completely free for the playing field, as above, there's no real reason fo rit to make much of a difference), I just pray that they haven't handed it to some crap dev house that'll screw it up royally, although I do have a worryingly familiar uneasy feeling in my stomach...

Christ, do people ever even look at these things before posting any more? The bottom screen on the top photo is upside-down, for god's sake. At least I put the slightest of effort into my photoshop jobs here.

A port of Red Alert would do.

Those pics above wouldn't be possible though. C&C got ported to N64 and that one looked pretty bad iirc.
