Remembering Ryan Davis, 1979 - 2013

I'm listening to the podcast whenever they post it tonight. Normally I listen during my commute or at work but I don't think I should for this one.

God damn there was something so larger than life about specifically Ryan, but also the Bombcast crew that you think they were invincible. Except reality comes crashing down on you, and you realize they are just people too - who can die...

Really makes you question your own mortality.

Sorry if I started drinking early but fuck.

Like it or not after listening and watching for so long we are invested in their lives. We were excited for Vinny when he had his baby, we felt for Patrick when he lost his Dad, we all knew Ryan was getting married and were excited to hear the story once he was back. This is no different and we'll go through it "together" for lack of better phrasing.
Absolutely. This is probably nearly the only thread on GAF I've read every single post of. And it's exactly because its nice to know there's more fans out there who are just as bummed as I am.

Jeff and Ryan are literately two of my most favorite people. Been listing to the GiantBomb for these two dudes every week for over over 5 years. Never cared who-else was on as long as one of them were on as I new it would be great show regardless. Never missed an episode. GiantBomb will still be awesome with Jeff at the helm but man it will never be the same. Still cant believe dude is gone.

Also, when Ryan use to talk about is childhood I always thought, man, he must have had awesome childhood going all those places with his father. And seeing his father post all those pictures sort of confirms it.

This is so real.

Has anyone contacted the Saints Row guys yet? They seem like they'd be into it.

They did drop a tweet about Ryan:

You should. Any reason is a good reason but in this case you have a great reason. Hell, it's Ryan! You can get a buddy and do 'Edward 40 Hands'.

Brother I'm probably already 3x over the limit lol. Just fired up some First of Tha Month by Bone, summerjams baby. Nothing goes better with video games.

Yep. It's nice to have a place to discuss this with others who enjoy GB just as much as I do. This news hasn't left my mind for more than 30 minutes since I learned of it, not including last night's sleep. Seems like a healthy, constructive way to reminisce about someone we all loved to watch and listen to.

He might have had one of those horrible congenital conditions that kills a lot of young people so tragically before their time.

Much more common than you might think.

Anyway, enough about the cause of death for now. I'd really like to see some sort of meaningful tribute to the guy.

Industry seems pretty quiet on this business.

Harmonix did a tribute stream.

It's only tuesday, give it a couple of days for the normally scheduled podcasts comes out.

The podcast probably won't come out tonight, it still has to be edited and stuff probably, no?

Doesn't Jeff barely edit the podcast? I feel like when he does it, he throws it together with the barest amount of work and puts it out. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go out tonight, though it may be late tonight.

They usually edit it pretty fast, especially ones done by jeff.

Expect it in an hour or so time.

Ryan always believed in minimal editing in order to preserve the cadence of the room. I feel like Jeff takes it even further.

And man, that Brad pic is just so........:(

They should compile all of his voice from the bombcasts, and then create crazy ass dialog lines for his character, just like Chef from South Park.

yissssss

Volition is probably really close to going gold right now so I doubt anything could make it in for shipping release, but considering the degree of modability of SRIV on the PC I can guaran-fucking-tee some community members will be doing just that. Giant Bomb is one of the biggest Saints Row proponents of the web.

Its a great idea though, and the hours of voice material will be priceless for a Saints Row dlc character, thats hopefully free.
