Most of the episodes that are cut on this set are thought to be because Nick lost many of the scenes after removing them, and thus could not be restored.
Another problem with the set is that some of the original title cards are missing, and use the "Ren & Stimpy Classics" title card that Spike TV used when showing the episodes. Adding to this problem, there are some random fade outs and ins from Spike TV so they could add in more commercials. I can't believe John K. or someone else from the show wouldn't have a set that's untampered-with. Still, while these are annoyances, it's still relatively minor.
The DVD is also well worth owning for many restored scenes that were not shown on Spike or Nick (such as the "Circus" scene from Sven Hoek), and commentary tracks by creator John Kricfalusi and several of the show's original developers.
