Replaying Wind Waker...and..

I've recently been playing Wind Waker over again, partially to get ready for the new Zelda, but also to play a game that I thought was amazing. However, that is not the reason why I am posting this. I am sure it has been mentioned before, many times, but why doesnt Nintendo/Game Freak use the Wind Waker graphic engine for a Pokemon game. It's already available for them, and I for one think it would be amazing. The effects in Wind Waker, and the general style of it work perfectly for the Pokemon universe.

I was really unimpressed with Coloseum's graphics (and the game itself), and the new game is looking to just like it. As much as I like Pokemon, it's starting to get old, I think a new battle system, more like KotOR would help, but I also think using the Wind Waker engine would also help.

I've been dying for a well done, good looking Pokemon RPG that isn't put out there knowing it will sell cause it's Pokemon.

Gimme a Pokemon MMORPG and that'll pump life like you wouldn't believe into the franchise. That's all.

I agree, but I would also like to run around in a beautiful environment like Wind Waker's except the Pokemon universe.

Definitely. Honestly, I've always thought that a cel-shaded Pokemon or Mario would have worked much better than Zelda.

Well, you guys have played Colossuem right? I think the engine for that game was a really hacked-up version of the Pokemon GBA engine w/ the battle engine from the Stadiums thrown in. It would be cool for a cel-shaded Pokemon, but using WW engine and keeping connectivity with the GBA games would be overly difficult to develop I think. Colo wasn't bad anyways... I just wish the old N64 Pokemon models weren't used.

the kotor combat engine should never be put in a game again. its a total piece of shit.

just make the fighting deeper a kin to DMC3.

Damn, Pokemon is PERFECT for a MMORPG. Places you can get badges, cities to visit... wow, I can't believe I haven't heard of that idea earlier (though I'm sure others have mentiond it before).

Imagine a Zelda MMO. Dungeons = quests.

Imagine a 1000 player dungeon. :lol

Crazy puzzles, ridiculous boss battles..

Maybe not a Zelda franchise MMO, but a game using the Zelda gameplay system in an MMO.

A Zelda MMORPG would be stretching it though. There's only one Link. Though I wouldn't be against a MMORPG with the same gameplay mechanics of Zelda. But then, in the Pokemon plot there are thousands of Pokemon trainers, so it all makes sense. Go to the forests or out into a lake to get wild pokemon, find people to trade with... all they'd have to do is make badges EXTREMELY hard to get, and have Pokemon slow improvement and it would be great.

Not only that, how sweet would it be to have Nintendo put in certain new Pokemon a month, and take some out, in order to balance the whole thing out. So some Pokemon would be more rare than others, some even one of a kind, legendary almost. You could join Team Rocket if you wanted, and World Tournament Events would make you famous. A Pokemon MMORPG would own my life.

I swear if they made a Pokémon MMORPG I wouldn't have a social life anymore as I'd be playing this thing to death. They could recreate the whole Pokémon universe from the GBA in full 3D with the different islands and leagues and all. The possibilities are so endless I hope Nintendo makes that game one day.

Just like in the TV show you could enter a tournament and then people would battle in a collosseum and others could come in just to see the fights and then the winner would earn something I still don't know what. Maybe that by becoming extremely good you could become a gym leader or something. People could meet anywhere to have Pokémon battles that would be so much better than trying to find someone with a GBA.

And now back on subject, I have to agree that a Pokemon game with WW graphics would rock! WW had the best celshaded graphics ever and the engine should have been used in more than one game, especially in a cartoon like game like Pokemon.

That's just it! There should be a Pokemon MMO in Wind Waker graphics. I agree with you totally, I think it would be my life. I would somehow make a living out of it. I really hope it's a Revolution title, cause I've been waiting for a Pokemon MMO since Blue/Red.

*Droool* :)

I agree Pokemon would be hot cel shaded...

but give me another cel shaded Zelda. That's what I really want.
For some odd reason or another, I feel the exact same way. I was so extremely enamored by the way WW went about with its cel-shading. I would definetly love to see another Zelda game use this style.

Oh, so now there's mystical item that splits Link into enough Links for a MMORPG? What is it gonna be called? Legend of the Quarter of a Million Cane?
:lol :lol
Hey now, don't give Nintendo any ideas. ;)

well, maybe they wouldn't need to have many Links for a zelda mmorpg. the game could just be set in Hyrule and everyone would create their own character. The Zelda universe on it's own has a lot to offer and even though Link has always been the main character I don't think he would be needed as a playable character in a zelda mmorpg. He could be present in some way or another though!

The only problem is, this makes too much sense. That's the only reason I can guess why it hasn't been done yet; it's such a natural mix, far more than Pokemon Snap.

I am upset that there are no more GC games set to use Wind Waker's engine and graphic style. I was so hoping for another "Majora's Mask"... a Zelda that takes the core of the original game, adds a big gameplay twist, and takes the graphics and overall mood in a different direction.

Because online is a fad to Nintendo, despite the goldmine in MMORPG's these days.

I dont think they think it's a fad. I just think they think they wont be able to profit.

Nintendo might get its head out of its ass one day,but I doubt it.
Well the day it starts selling off it's licenses, or goes third party and makes games for a system that HAS an online system established, then maybe they'll finally start making the Pokemon MMORPG, 16 player Mario Kart racing, or huge StarFox wars (and not just deathmatch, but missions for 8 people to play co-op together against a huge force), THESE are the things I've been looking forward to for online and Nintendo just doesn't ... want to risk it.

I doubt the huge target market for Pokemon would have access to MMOs though. We're talking mostly 10 year olds and under, right?

I agree though, in principle, a Pokemon MMO would be godly. I just never see Nintendo in their current idiot phase on online gaming ever realizing how great an idea it would be.

That's backwards thinking though. The reason why there isn't a market for kids MMORPGs is because no one has really made one that was accessable for young kids yet.

I think any Pokemon RPG on a console is a good idea.

LakeEarth, I must say I have no idea what the hell your avatar means, and I read that whole thing twice... lil help?

It's a re-enactment for the Radiohead song Just. Its a bit clearer if you've watched the video, but just a bit.

Oh and why didn't Nintendo make a Pokemon RPG when it was hot? It makes no sense. It's like Microsoft making a game where you take Master Chief's picture instead of Halo 3 for their xbox launch, or maybe making a GTA where you talk to your character and try to make him happy. Makes no sense to me.

Now only if we could give 8 year old boys credit cards

Yes, the WW engine would suit the Pokemon franchise well. Good idea!

Pokemon MMORPG is such a logical step for Nintendo, yet they refuse to take it. Next-gen better have online from them.
