Request: Info on trade-in deals for EB

Basically, I got some info, but I called up the place and they weren't exactly clear. I'm doing a cleaning of some of my lesser DVDs and games that I'll probably never watch or play again, and I don't feel like going through the trouble of eBaying it so I wanted to have Electronic Boutique shove its huge spiked dildo up my ass by giving me 50 cents credit for 50 dollar games.

So summarizing, I have two questions:

1. What are some of trade-in deals currently going on at EB for games and DVDs? I read the site which said something like 25 or 30% for DVDs...

30% extra trade-in credit for 3 PP DVD movies Active: Now - 10/16/2005
Trade-in 3 different preplayed DVD movies and receive a total of 30% extra trade-in value for all 3. Boxes and Instructions are required. May not be combined with any other offer or discount. Typographical errors are not the responsibility of EB Games. See sales associate for complete details. Customer may be responsible for sales tax.

So, like, if I trade in another 3 on top of that, do those 3 also get 30% trade-in credit? How much do DVDs usually trade in for at EB, 50 cents, a buck, two bucks, three bucks?

Same for this one...

25% bonus trade-in credit for 3 PP PS2/XB/GC/GBA/PSP/DS Active: Now - 10/16/2005
Trade-in 3 preplayed PS2/XB/GC/PSP/GBA/DS games and receive 25% bonus trade-in credit for each item. Boxes and Instructions are required. No titles excluded from trade. May not be combined with any other offer or discount. No duplicate titles accepted. Typographical errors are not the responsibility of EB Games. Some exclusions may apply. See sales associate for complete details. Customer may be responsible for sales tax.

So is that for every 3, I get 25% bonus? Or just one time in the system?

2. Any other deals I'm not seeing? Any good ways to exploit the trade-in system I'm not seeing? Help me, cheapass gamers!

Percents? Aw fuck. That's hardly as breakable as the $X extra.

The deal isn't too bad as long as you have games worth something. For instance I unloaded my buggy as hell Xmen Legends 2 for PS2 and they gave me 40 bucks for it with the deal going on. Not too bad. On the other hand they only gave me 8 bucks credit on Demonstone for PS2. So 25 percent is of course going to get better milage on the higher priced games. The lower priced games are better for those "get an extra 5 bucks in credit" deals but unfortunately they just ended it and probably won't be doing it again anytime soon.

The percentage is overall, so for every 3 games and up you get 25 percent more. And yes you are going to get hosed on your DVD's 2 - 5 bucks depending on title and how new and 8 to 10 for some boxsets. But it's hard to sell them or trade them anywhere for a reasonable price (except boxsets, you may get more on Ebay) so you might as well as take advantage of an extra 30 percent on top.

Apparently, the 30% trade-in bonus for dvds is if you mail them in to their office (apparently they take trade-ins by mail now.. the manager at my local EB called about it and that is what he was hold)

As for the games, each game you trade in (in a set of 3) gets a 25% bump up in the price of each game, not the total. (keeps you from trading in crap games and 1 good one to get a lot more credit). Dvds usually trade in around 3-5, depending on the age of the title. (Anime dvds usually go for a bit more than movies) I got average $4.50 for my tenchi muyo dvds that I paid $3 each for at Dollar General stores, so I came out pretty well.

also, with the trade 3, it can be a mixture of any of those types of games.

Shit, is there any verification about the mail-in part? That's a big thing, too much trouble and part of the reason I don't feel like ebaying. :P They don't mention it on the website at all to my knowledge. That would suck big time...

Damn, EBGames seriously needs a trade-in price list. It's hard figuring out what to bring without that, and I'll look like a total douche bringing my giant box.

If anyone is familiar with some of the EB pricing, can you help my get a ballpark for some of these? A lot of these I have extras of or there's new editions coming out, so that's why I'm departing with a lot.

GTA:SA
Disgaea
Suikoden III
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (GC)
Katamari Damacy
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (GC)

Greatest Hits go for like 2 bucks, right?

If you have games to trade (PS2, XB, GC, DS, GBA, PSP) then wait until after the 16th.

EB has a trade 3 get $10 more deal that runs all the weeks of Oct, except this week, because their ad was already printed.

I went in with about 12 games yesterday and the manager was nice enough to tell me to wait, as the $10 extra was more than the 25%.

Talk to your local manager they will usually do them in seperate transactions for you if the deals are limited to 3 titles.

The only bonus $10 for trades promo going on is on hardware. We are doing a trade three games (subject to exclusion of course) get Gran Turismo 4 for free. We also have the aforementioned bonus % deals.

The best deal by far is the pre-order bonus deals, i.e. trade in up to 5 (non-excluded) PS2, Xbox, or Gamecube games towards a pre-order on Zelda, and get at least $10 per title. This works even if you only put down the $5 deposit.
