'Requirements' for a job in editorial work for a publication

Depends on what you mean by editorial work, but certainly at least good familiarity with AP and Chicago style guidelines and possibly Words Into Type. If a writer it may be less important, but if an editor, it's essential. Some hands-on experience with some kind of publication such as a college newspaper or something like that would help as well. Would it be more as a writer or an editor?

I did a lot of it full-time and still do freelance so if there's anything else with which I can help, PM me if you'd like.

well, i mean editor at a magazine, namely. i don't care what it is i report on, or talk about, as long as it's something i have a passion for.
i'd just like to know the bare essentails of what i'd need to get a job. or what would be the recommended credentials.

Bare essentials? A degree in journalism or communications, and a passion to stay on the pulse of whatever you're editing. You'll be lucky to keep your head above water, though.

Other helpful knowledge/skills: marketing and sales, production and graphic design.
