They better dont fuck up Code Veronica and Zero. Two of my most favourite games in the franchise and CV with its initial DC release is the best rated RE Game (94), nothing can take that back.

I want this MORE than anything and it makes me happy to see this. I figured it was only a matter of time. I mean, giving 2 and 3 the over the shoulder + RE Engine treatment but NOT RE1 felt criminal to me, and honestly a bit weird.

RE Remake is amazing, but it's just not the same formula as the more recent remakes. So, it would be great to see it get that attention. I'd also hope that it gets the most love and attention out of everything. So I could also imagine that may be why they're taking their time with it.

It's a remake, but plays more like the original, instead of like the newer remakes.

I don't mind the hardware leaks, because hardware is hardware, and usually you'll be able to tell who was legit and who was BSing in due time. Some of these game leaks tho, legit robbing the fun out of discourse online.

Like what if that Balrog GOW spinoff ends up being fake? But then people are gonna forget all about the drama stirred up beforehand on (potentially wrong) leaks. It just doesn't sit right with me.

I am not opposed to a Remake, as much as I love the 2002 version (still heartbroken it wasn't re-rendered like Zero, instead of the cheap upscaled mess they gave us with its Remaster).

But I feel they should have released it right after RE2R. From that game on, we've had a gradual increase in gameplay complexity and mechanics: first the RE3 dodge, then RE4R action, and now RE9 on top. Going back to bare-bones (but essential) controls and basic gameplay agency the OG RE demands is going to feel a little weird. Not necessarily on an objective or personal level, but in terms of general reception, I fear.

It was a remake more or less, somewhat extended so not just a simple remaster.

I wonder if there was ever a double remake of any game yet.
But then eventually not that hard to imagine for me that this starts to happen. I think I'm officially past being a hardcore fan of the OG RE1-3 games.. I love them dearly and super happy that GOG got them released in recent years just to be able to play them.
Then again what's not to love about the new stuff? So many good things came from their new iterations, the evolution of cinematic games or simply just the available tech like path tracing.
After RE9 I was just wondering the other day how I'd love RE4 remake to have the FPS mode added. So why not go back and implement some new stuff, they are beloved classics for a reason.

One more time with the oldies or new stuff.. I'm down for whatever they have to offer, just keep 'em coming at this solid quality.

The original remake is still going to be one of the best games of all time regardless of what they do with the new one. Either way I'm really excited about the possibility of having a Resident Evil every year give or take of this general caliber. Bring on Code Veronica please.
