Resident Evil 1 Remake in development

Remake is a 10/10, why remake it?

because we're old farts and when the games comes out it's gonna be 30 years since the first remake came out. give newer fans of the series a chance to experience the beginning of the RE story without playing a 30 year old game. RE4 is also a 10/10 game and RE4R did a good job remaking it.

lol right now, its a race between this and Metal Gear Solid 1 for the first major remake remake.

tomb raider is going to win that race

Code Veronica can hardlock the player in multiple instances... a remake is the only way to fix the game.

Yeah there's a good game there, but it's really hampered by some frustrating design choices.
Maybe I'm not recalling the original 1, 2, 3 but I don't remember having any major issues. Veronica felt like an oddball.

Really need to replay 2, which I adored. It's been 27 years since I set foot in PS1 Racoon City. How did I get so old?…

As am I :(

For the love of God, replace that horrible Jill actress.
It's really the godawful writing that sunk her. I mean she wasn't going to match Disher regardless but Capcom really did her no favors with that awful script and character direction. Then again, Capcom doesn't seem to understand any of the characters these days. I mean it worked out great for Claire since her original version was awful but nobody else has been so lucky.

Gamecube RE1 remake is 24 years old title.

Regardless of how well it holds up, stop forcing it like it is something that came out yesterday.
But it got remastered and ported to every other system around 15 years after that.
If they redo this game yet again I want to see a lot of new stuff and more characters otherwise don't bother.

I'm against only because the first remake is THE remake. Can't see much reason to do it again² (fucking DS has it's own remake)

There was also the thing about the virus making them return to a tribal state. It's like saying that originary people are the equivalent of animals or something inferior to humans. That part was totally tone deaf and there is no way to deny it.
Deaf to stupid people's tones. Resident Evil story is absurd on so many levels. You have to be a super snowflake to be able to find reasons to be outraged over it.

Honestly, after 7, 8, 9, CV, 0 and RE1 remake, we need a break from mansions. I love the setting, but it's going to get old. Especially since so many of them ape the Spencer Mansion aesthetic.

RE10 better great real creative. Also, fucking enough with the Nest style labs. ENOUGH. I BEG.

because it's already perfect and there are truly mediore RE games that would actually need a remake.

seems like a waste of resources and everyone's time imo
I agree with 2002 REmake being damn near perfect. I'd still buy and play part 1 remade to fit RE2R. I'm not concerned with Capcom's resources, just my own. I feel it's worth it.

I don't agree, Remake is still perfectly viable, visuals are great, gameplay is on point. If you're going to remake something without flaws from scratch then just make a new game. It's not the same a remaking nes games or something really old, game design hasn't evolved much since the gamecube era. But anyways I don't care that much, I just don't see the point of making another run-of-the-mill RE 3rd person shooter. Remake2 was a fluke, I didn't fun R4R that good to be honest.

still tho. would be nore exciting if they remade Zero, or Code Veronica, which is probably the most requested one. because those actually could be easily improved imo

it's crazy that you can finish it tn half an hour.

Also fucking L O L at the voice acting, jesus christ, I forgot how cheeks it is. Hilarious though. Honestly at the time I did not appreciate this shit and was a silent hill dicksucker.

It was already remade tho, I honestly kinda don't want a RE1 remake in the same style as these recent remakes.
The game just works better as a top down game imo.

Resident Evil wasn't a top-down game. Either way I would love to see fixed perspective camera angle Resident Evil return and this will be a great opportunity to do it though I doubt they will do that and I expect them to go full on third person. But at the same time they did cut fixed camera angle from Resident Evil 2 remake so they at least had it in mind as a possibility, that said if any game were to receive that treatment it would be this one and I am hopeful that one day we do get a return to that style.
Also RE9 proved that they don't have to rely on remakes.
It's not about relying on remakes, clearly they are not relying on remakes because they have released seven, eight, and nine. It is just supplemental to that and I'm glad they did because they are excellent irrespective of the changes from the original- I can always play the originals and I do, but I really like these modern interpretations as well aside from some obvious criticisms.

Amazing how only gamers have this backwards mentality. Ever saw someone asking for a remake of Citizen Kane or Batman Year One without being laughed out of the room? "But I want to experience Seven Samurai too. You have to make it more accessible with a remake in full colour and without subtitles, think about the zoomers!" lol bruh, if you value the medium, this ain't how it works.

RE1 remake is a masterpiece, easily available and plays fine if you don't have that crippling fear of minimal learning curves or getting accostumed to something slightly unfamiliar. Normies allergic to gaming history can go play something from their own generation, we don't need to feed them dumbed down classics.

remake - 2004
New remake - perhaps 2028? 20+ years.
re 5 - 2009
re 6 - 2012
So if they make 5 & 6 remakes, it would make sense to launch it after 2029 if they stick with 20+ years gap.

I wonder what a really good 3D Mega Man would look like. I don't mean the Legends games, could never get into them.

I mean,
I'd imagine the core controls of ReCore, mixed with the weapon unlocks of MegaMan.
that would be a decent formula for a 3D MegaMan or MegaMan X game.

a 3D MegaMan would almost need to be a Metroidvania tho. making it full 3D would make the original structure of selecting stages and killing Robot Masters in an arbitrary order a bit weird I think.
but using the robot master weapons as metroidvania-like elements that open up new paths would work well in a 3D game.

🤣

2023 Ashley obliterated 2005 Ashley.
2023 Carlos was terrific.
OG Jill was about as wooden as it gets.

2023 Ada was awful but a voice mod fixes that.
