I think they mean now the PS2 can't display the same number of barrels on screen as the GC version. GC Barrels > PS2 Barrels

but less barrels = less ammo/health pickups ...which means PS2 is the definite version because it's HARDER

gamecube version = weaksauce version

confirmed.

I've been replaying this game. God dang, love it. Mikami kicks ass... WHY the hell would he not continue with the RE series? This game is so brilliant because of it's excellent flow and direction. I have a feeling RE5 will be great, but not RE4 great since Mikami's not involved. RE1, RE2, and RE4 were all helmed under extremely talented game directors (Mikami and Kamiya) and came out fantastic. The other ones in the series suck, save RE0.

I think the only thing confirmed is Wario's insanity :lol

I'm playing the game for the 4th time I think and loving every bit of it, but as to what you said. Basically, Mikami wasn't even going to work on Resident Evil 4. Until Kobayashi called him in to take the game in a bold new direction, and it definitely worked.

Now that Resident Evil 4 is done, he's moved over to Clover Studio where he will have more freedom. Along with other Directors such as Kayima and Inaba, Mikami is searching for more freedom within Capcom. I guess the management over there is quite strict and careless. I don't imagine he's in too good relation with them after they voted to have his game ported to the PlayStation 2.

I can't wait for the IGN comparisons, the thread will be great.

that cube shot is an old build (look at the health bars)

I know, visuals are unchanged though. It looked so good on my monitor. (not addressed to Wario64)If you don't play this game in progressive scan your missing out, PS2 or GC.

I like the blue tone of the PS2 boxart... but Leon looks kinds of... don't know... weird... evilly weird... =P

With the other shot you posted (the one with the demo bars), you could see the difference in the lighting...

interesting how that scene with the ashley close up has 3 barrels in the background while the other version has 1

the game doesn't look all that different though...you'd think that by the reactions on this forum, RE4 PS2 would look like a n64 game
GC = better barrels

TAKE YO SPARKS AND SHOVE IT

The ground textures are horrible in RE4. I can't see individual rock fragments blowing in the wind if I stare at it for five hours (because, you know, when you play a game you look at the ground the whole time). NEVERMIND about what I previously said, Resident Evil 4 looks terrible altogether. N64 quality, even. No no, no.... no............ no, get this..... Virtual Boy quality. Red lines. Cancer inducing.

Something that always bugged me about the GC box was the tree to the right of the logo. It looked like it was forming a 2. So I always read it as "4 Resident Evil 2"

Dammit, now that's all I see!

I don't like the way Leon looks on the PS2 box, he looks evil. (and it needs the chainsaw guy!)
I like the Cube box art more, but I think it would be even better if they just changed the color of the pink sky to dark blue like the PS2 box.

lol, I never noticed that!

I like the PS2 box. Some fucker at Sony had better give this game a big marketing push even if they have no say in publishing the game...if it bombs then Sony are to blame

There are some per pixel effects in the Cube version that I'm pretty sure won't be in the PS2 version. Overall the difference may not be huge but I'm confident the Cube version is visibly superior.

It was a special promo copy - never officially on sale. 2nd hand copies go for £100 + though

It's a damn nice set though...I just wish I'd had the chance to buy it

Great, but isn't there some side by sides of actual gameplay...I think that's where the Cube having a little more power makes a difference.

What do you mean? Why would that make a difference? It's rendering the same stuff and the cutscenes used higher quality models anyways.
