wtf, there's not actual discussion on "more barrels" as a sales feature or a mark of a superior game revision, is there?

Oh my fuck. :-\

Nah, it's was already resolved with my barrel post. Just look up. Just some misceptions needed to be cleared up.

question... has anyone gone back and actually played the GC version to that cutscene to see if maybe it was something they fixed after that trailer was made? All i've ever seen is people using shots from that one trailer as a comparisson.

Edit: nevermind, im rucking fetarded, i just reread what you had posted. I see now, ignore me.

I think it's the Cube version that has more barrels, isn't it? And I certainly hope you meant "fleshed", not "flushed". Unless you're trying to say they sent the story down the toilet...

*plays that part again*

Ahem, the barrels are there.

What's this about the PS2 version having true widescreen?

Yes, the PS2 version supports true anamorphic widescreen instead of letterboxing widescreen like the GC. So when people play on a widescreen t.v. unlike the GC version there won't be bars to the left and right side of the screen, and thus not needing to zoom in to rid of them which would have caused an increase pixel size and pixelation.

The PS2 version supports true anamorphic widescreen so that you won't have to use the zoom option on your TV(if it even has it) and lose image guality.

I'll bite. I got the Special Edition when it came out on the Gamecube. I might as well get it when it comes out on PS2. I was going to buy the game again anyway. Seems they added the DVD and changed the cell to Ada instead of Leon. They may change the Prologue as well.

I love cross platform game discussion. :) The barrels discussion is cute, but it doesn't quite make it to "sparks" level hilarity. :lol

Man, remember last generation comparisions or 16-bit comparisions in which there really were absolute differences? Sparks? Barrels? Freakin' sparks and barrels?!! Sheesh!

Man, we sure have gotten anal in come comparisions now adays, if anything Burnout 3 and it looks like Resident Evil 4 are games that ideally should turn out for consoles, a kickass experience that you can't really go wrong with either choice.

You don't have to play all of them to appreciate RE4, if you played RE1, RE2, and RE3, it's all good; we finally get to be Leon again, and he's all badass. If I think about it I've spent nearly a decade playing the RE series wondering what is going to happen next and how will "we" finally take down Umbrella. We imagine it all some epic showdown at Umbrella HQ or something, but nope, RE4 handles most of that in opening cinema. Just like that, the Umbrella struggle seems to be over, fast and effective.

It's quite sobering in a way for a long time player like me. It's almost a clean slate and new jump point for Resident Evil, so far as to say this could have been a brand new series and really in a way the RE name is holding it a bit back to "sequel" status. I mean a Resident Evil game with no zombies?! Widescreen? Brand new camera 3D engine? Content sensitive buttons? WTF?! Yet it works...extremely well.

Then you are all badass! Leon in RE4 is the type of guy that even Solid Snake would like to hang out with. Such a different change from his rookiness in RE2.

Wow. Superior version after all.

He--I mean, I, :) remind myself of Dante in Devil May Cry 1. When he says to the lava scorpion "I hope you've got something inside that big body of yours" (or something like that). It was just like when Leon says to the Salazar thing, "Another monster. I guess now there'll be one less to deal with".

I'm a cocky MF. (Actually, I was thinking to myself, shut up! Don't piss off the giant monster!)

Hmmm...interesting you mentioned Dante from Devil May Cry, I nearly forgotten DMC was at one time a version of Resident Evil 4 but deviated too far so it became it's own thing.

You can see bits of RE in there.

The classic RE style camera is still there but in 3D, an action oriented title with unlimited ammo (RE4 is more action oriented with loads of more ammo but there's still a limit and it's tamer in relation how extreme Dante can do in his action), the less focus on puzzles to be much more fast pace, the classic castle area, Leon and Dante's cockiness, and even an escape sequence.

I guess i'll have to get it. RE4 was just that good i guess. But really if thats all thats new MEH. I need a few more guns than just two. Ada's stuff kind of sucked so maybe this new stuff of hers might be worth it.

Reduced polygons means a step back, even if anamorphic widescreen is cool. This needs to be on X360, stat!

Only thing I've heard announced from the developer is less rich texturing and facial detail.
This is actually understandable if you play the game in anamorphic widescreen and end up with 4-5 more enemies on screen or simply more of the environment.

And X360 isn't out yet, lot of good it will do there.
