Resident Evil 5 announced

http://www.gamefront.de

This weeks Famitsu. Xbox 360 (and maybe PS2. But PS2 is unconfirmed). No details yet.

I believe it's Xbox 360 and PS3. But we've to wait for more details and maybe some scans... :)

EDIT

Xbox 360 AND Playstation3 are confirmed. NO PS2 version.

Maybe PS2? Looks like definitely PS2 to me.

... PS2 and Xbox 360?

.. No GC if it's coming to PS2?

Just.. wow.

x360 and ps2? DOES NOT COMPUTE.

The fans will give up on the series. They're tired of switching consoles.

Edit:
Capcom gave up on the Xbox last time due to poor sales.
I wonder if MS will ever profit on the 360 for the price they paid to get this exclusive.

What's strange is for it to be Xbox 360 and PS2 suggests that it's coming out in the near future (say next spring), but RE4 is coming out on PS2 this fall. It sounds like another Viewtiful Joe situation where they've got a port of the previous game and the next chapter in the series releasing awfully close. If it weren't coming out by next spring, I'd think somebody made a typo and it is tentatively planned for Xbox 360 and PS3.

But yeah the system jumping has gotten ridiculous. I'm wondering how much RE4 will sell on PS2 at this point.

Awesome. Let's see how one of the big 4 Japanese third parties handles next-gen power with a series like this. I can't wait.

This reminds me of:

Oddworld and Shenmue, both exclusives that were supposed to be revolutionary, but instead killed interest by leaving the fanbase.

Article says, the idea of PS2 version MAY change.

it's like capcom is afraid it wont sell on x360, so they might port it to ps2 to recoup its losses

also, it seems pretty quick for another core RE game, but this is Capcom we're talking here...

Damn...but the PS2 and 360 generation gap is going to look ugly if its just some slapped on conversion.
Probably just a typo. Generation transitions are full of them.

Most people now compulsively add "A" after GB, "2" after PS and so on. I'm sure it's PS3 bound.

Of course, the lack of any revolution mentions might be part of a confidentiality clause with Nintendo to not say shit until a certain date.

Looks like Nintendo has an uphill battle going into next-gen.

nintendo must be kicking themselves right about now. the "secret console" strategy doesn't seem to be working. :lol

*i hope they use the same art style as RE4. That game was incredible.

What? Both Shenmue games were released on the DC. Shenmue II was later ported to xbox but I don't see how thats leaving the fanbase.

It's not really the same. Resident Evil already left the original fanbase. If it's good and the graphics are on par with what people want for next gen visuals, it will do well, especially since it will be released when the system is new and a "hot item."

The PS2 part is what is strange, because unless the game is coming out a lot sooner than expected, PS2 will be heading into retirement, at least as far as major game support goes.

That's what I meant.

Shenmue 2 on the Xbox in the States killed any interest a lot of people had in it.
And Munch's Oddysee? *gag*

I wish just once I could play one of my favorite series on just one console. Argh!
Twin Snakes should be ported to the PS2 to make me happy.

Shenmue II was canned for Dreamcast in North America, which was the one area it had decent sales. But SEGA fucked themselves because it was inredibly easy to play the imported PAL version. All you needed was a utopia boot disc.

I'm not sure how much a non-exclusive Resident Evil game will help them at this point, it hasn't helped GC. The fanbase has shrinked a bunch.

oh that makes sense. I forgot it was canned in NA for DC

can't believe this game is this far in dev that they have such nice looking screens. can't wait, I loved Resident Evil 4, it's probably going to be my GOTY

360 and PS3 makes much more sense. Where did the PS2 thing come from? Both threads said that (and why do we have two threads?)

Well that was a lot of confusion for nothing. The scans neo2046 posted say Xbox 360 and PS3.

I think it's PS3 & 360, and a PS2 version being considered, hence the confusion/typo.

That may not be as good for Microsoft as an exclusive that follows through from Capcom, but there's no way to spin it for me: this is still a considerable victory. I guess I can accept this instead of a shock Namco defection easily.

Edit: and yes, the game pictures look amazing. Hot. Capcom can vet PR pictures well, I'm sure. :D

someone translate this now. i have a tiny hunch this is being made by the Dino Crisis team.

so yeah, someone find out who's behind it. and merge the threads already.

Please translate this! :D

Finally Japan developers do not ignore the Box! I expect to see many X360/PS3 multiplatform games next gen! :D

I wonder if they'll have video of this next week. Its certainly not a 360 launch title, but it looks far enough along for a trailer
