Resident Evil DS Interview + Video (300 Mb)

I still don't understand why Capcom is putting a realistic, graphically intensive game that has been remade before on a system that is built on innovation and has less than stellar graphical compatibilities.

And it's fucking handheld. Why the fuck to handhelds need Survivor Horror games? It just DOESN'T work.

Capcom needs $$$ though.

Why is Capcom making so many Megaman games on the PSP when the fanbase is on Nintendo handhelds?

The company runs half-assed backwards, it's no wonder they are lsoing money, they are losing money, right??

There is this myth where the head of capcom was playing hot shots golf at a meeting and went "This is the future, we must support this!"

I think Capcom was in the black this year, but a while back they weren't in such good shape.

This is the same company that announced RE4 PS2 before the GC one came out so yeah...

Actually no, 2004 fiscal and 2005 fiscal, and the prospects given so far for this year, Capcom is well in the green.

They were down for 2003 and 2004 though, however--that wasn't because of low software sales, rather they were enganging in other business prospects that later (obviously) was deemed unprofitable, and thus shut down.

And which point, they started making profit again.

My only gripe with Capcom, is how they can create something utterly amazing and just milk it and run it into the shit with poor sequals. You can have added DMC on the list if it wasn't for DMC3.

Hmm. There's a screen, and a D-Pad and I can play Biohazard on it the same way I would on a console. Works for me!

Oh, and that implementation of "mario stars or whatever" as indication of other wi-fi players, BULL-FUCKIN SHIT.

I'd rather have stick figures that could create simple animations (most importantly shooting) than blob-like stars. How the hell are you supposed to have a co-op function going on, if you can't even tell what the hell your teammates are doing? Stick figures with simplistic gun animations for the win.

800 polygons? That has to be a mistake.

If not, that's hilarious.

He's probably talking per frame. Assuming 60fps, that's about 48,000 polygons per seond. Still ouch though.

There's a big different between playing survival horror games on a TV and on a handheld like the DS. Resident Evil games, actually all survival horror games, NEED graphics to create their atmosphere. The DS is not a system for survival horror games.

It's the system for ten-year old survival horror games though.

The game looks good to me. I don't think they're going for horror with this port as much as the other games.

1Gb = 128MB
1 CD = 700MB

But of course, RE2 on N64 was only 64MB (512Mb)

Wow, so even though RE1 used less data overall, it appears on a larger medium anyway. I hope that means we get relatively uncompressed sound and solid looking videos.

USing avatar is retarted. You can not even see if the other play has a weapon. You got to know when to hold 'em, know whento fold 'em. Game should have been cancelled.

Also, does the game have a voice chat? How are you supposed to communicate?

Well its a good thing then this game is not online infrastructured or else this would have been even more confusing to play multiplayer online.

Which is still likely well above what RE1 pushed on PS/SS.

capcom needs to get a REAL RE game onto the PSP.
that would be awesome
Have fun with Outbreak. :P

Weren't PSX cds less than 700MB at the start?
Yeah, there were data layers taken up with stuff like copy encryption and whatnot. I think available space was around 650MB though, so not much of a difference. Saturn CDs actually had less available space iirc, something like 575MB.

The number is still too low by 1200, and that is after clipping and backface culling.

This does sorta look like crap. I would've preferred RE2 or RE3, two games that are leaps and bounds more fun to play than the original. I'll never understand why Capcom continues to release the series' weakest link.
