I'm not a fan of how much it messes with the lighting, but then, I'm not really interested in playing the game with this sorta stuff anyway. Interesting to see an attempt at it, though.

I tried as well not long ago. Thinking I was that joyful teenager that still enjoyed life and could master tank controls. Turned out I wasn't. And neither could do the tank controls either.

Which is sad because I own the entire main series except 0 and 1 since they haven't been properly remaked yet. Yes we need another remake for 1.

The "modern controls" were trash. They were more confusing than the regular tank controls and looked bad in motion. 1 needs a remake remake as you said.

Loved the original HD remaster, but it still can't hold a candle to the OG on Playstation the music alone is a 10.

Downloaded on Steam Deck and holy hell... looks insanely good and keeps a fairly consistent 60FPS.

I didn't play this on Steam but I do have the game on Steam. It's my favorite Resident Evil and some day, I have to replay that game using that mod

Personally I'm not a fan. What's that panel texture supposed to be, leather? Don't get me wrong, the standard HD port textures are far from perfect. But two wrongs don't make a right.
I'm always baffled by people that can't handle tank controls. Up goes forward, down goes backwards, left and right turn. What could be simpler? Use the d-pad instead of the stick and you'll be fine.

Most of it looks really good, some of it looks a bit odd. But still really cool to see.
Man, I know the remake isn't THAT old, but I'm one of the few that wishes we'd get a new over the shoulder remake of RE1 on the RE Engine.

As modding goes, it's a pretty light lift. Just a case of replacing the 'sa', 'Arc' and 'ArcPC' folders in the original install with the modded versions.
That's pretty much it. If you're on a Steam Deck you'll need to switch to Desktop mode. I'd strongly recommended plugging it into a monitor with mouse and keyboard too, just for ease.
Yeah, it was intentional on the part of the modder. For me, it's a much closer in feel to the PS1 original, which is forever in my heart, so this kinda meshes the best of both for me. Definitely a matter of taste though.

I usually dont have issues with camera, textures and so on for old games/remasters....But i draw the line on controls.

One thing I will say, watching the video above, is it's sad how far Resident Evil has fallen from grace. Level design and atmosphere was insane, in the remake. Better than anything that came after it (and I say this as somebody whose favorite game is the original RE4).

It's been 30 years of this franchise lol.
That's 5 generations of resident evil games, which is about to be 6 generations in a couple of years. I think at this point it's fine if someone says they either don't want to play or haven't experienced the older games.
As a matter of fact I think the franchise now has twice as many free camera games as it does fixed camera games.

Yep! I am an OG but my daughters are definitely RE fans, and they wouldn't want to play the first 4 games. It's just the way it is. Superman fans also don't want to watch the original black and white show.
