Not seeing the connection, this could be any another game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still need to finish the second one. I started on that one because it was on gamepass - got a few hours in and then got Innocence free through prime gaming. So switched to that one and finished it, but at that point I had had my fill for awhile. Might be time to return to Requiem, just wish it was a little shorter.

This is going waaaay beyond rats brining in the plague, from the looks of things. Requiem already expanded the universe pretty heavily, but this is even crazier.

It's a worthwhile experience to see the full way through, regardless of length imo. Requiem is a very, very good game, especially once things really start to get going/fall apart for the characters.

Pretty meh trailer, just more artsy fartsy nonsense that tells us practically nothing about how the game plays.

Tentative pass until I see more.

Eh, you can pretty much tell it will play similar to the other games but likely with some more physical attacking options.

Not interested in this one. I dont understand why this franchise is so popular tbh, the gameplay is so boring

> Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, play as Sophia....

Errrrr. not sure how I feel about this.
APT: Innocence & Requiem were special because of the dynamic between Amicia and Hugo (and a few other supporting characters) as well as the storyline around the Macula.
If you take those elements away... you've taken away the appeal... at least for me.

But, I guess I should at least see what the writers have put together seeing as I enjoyed their previous works.

can't believe we're actually getting a game for sophia
anna deserved this <3 she did incredible work in a plague tale requiem. she deserved this
game looks great too. let's hope the story is as great as the last game
this game is like a dream come true for me. i always was like "man how cool it would be to actually play as sophia and see how badass she's from her perspective". and here we are

Looks like they're going for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and melee combat with this one, completely abandoning the rat stuff. I've nothing against it. If anything, it just goes to show that 1) They want to try something new (nothing wrong with that) and 2) The third A Plague Tale will be a lot more ambitious than all previous games combined, and it takes time.

Doesn't look bad.
But the fact it's a prequel based around Sophia makes me significantly less excited about it, specially with what the ending of 2 hinted at.

I get they might want to try something different from the rats. But in that case I'd honestly have preferred a new IP from them

Sword to Slay

From a story standpoint, Resonance allows us to tell how Sophia has become the strong, fierce, slightly cynical character that players already know and love – and it also sheds light on the reasons why she took Amicia and Hugo under her wing so genuinely. The story takes place fifteen years before Requiem events and Sophia is a member of a plunderer's gang. While trying to understand her past, gaining control over her destiny, she finds herself at the heart of the mythical Minotaur's island, hunted by numerous enemies.

In terms of gameplay, Sophia is a true fighter, lethal with her sword and dagger. However, every wound she receives can also be fatal. We always try to go the extra mile with every game we make, and this one was no exception. Where Amicia was a young girl forced to take up arms, Sophia is a warrior by nature. We couldn't tell her story properly without adding this combat feature. We've developed a combat system that is both demanding and rewarding, and we hope players will enjoy wielding Sophia's weapons.

Sophia is experienced and fierce; she parries enemies' attacks with ease and counters them with deadly finishers. Clever and agile, she always thinks of efficient ways to outsmart her opponents and has mastered a range of tricky moves for players to utilize. By analyzing the situation correctly, players can execute a well-placed kick to open a gap in a shielded enemy's defence, perform a perfectly timed dodge to destabilize tougher enemies, or even improvise by taking advantage of the environment. The possibilities are varied and can be enriched by the items Sophia will discover on the island. We are proud of what we've achieved with this approach, and we hope you'll have as much fun playing it as we did creating it.

Light to Survive

Combat is a brand-new component of this game, but it's not the only challenge that awaits players: Resonance is an action-adventure game with breathtaking Mediterranean vistas, fascinating puzzles and trials from a lost Minoan civilization. Sophia's fate is closely connected to this mysterious golden-armored hero we can see entering an arena in the trailer, who fought on this island 4500 years before her.

As she dives into the ruins of this civilization, helped by the notes safeguarded by other plunderers from her gang, Sophia unveils an ancient evil linked to the macula – known to A Plague Tale players as the evil source of Hugo's curse. As light gets scarcer and yet necessary to survive, players will have to be extra perceptive to solve the riddles and escape the presence hunting them through the depths of the island.

It's this anguished atmosphere that we reveal in our trailer: for sure, players will have to fight, be clever and think on their feet if they hope to survive on the island. Like them, Sophia will soon have no choice but to push forward, dive into the macula's myth, and figure out why it resonates so intimately with her.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be released for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud in 2026, and will be available day one with Game Pass – you can wishlist the game today on the Xbox Store.

The one things that worries me is that there's no mention of the rat plague in the synopsis. Is it to supposed to be a surprise at some point in the game? Because a Plague Tale game without rats literally flooding locations won't be a real Plague Tale game imo.

This isn't the sequel/prequel game that I wanted to see from them.

They've earned enough goodwill from the prior two games that I'll probably still check this out at some point if it reviews well.

They do say - "As light gets scarcer and yet necessary to survive, players will have to be extra perceptive to solve the riddles and escape the presence hunting them through the depths of the island."
My guess is it won't be rats but something that serves the same purpose and hopefully still uses their swarm tech.

We'll see. I still think it's dumb to (potentially) abandon that idea and not feature any rats in the trailer or in the promotional screenshots. Whenever I think of Plague Tale I instantly think of swarms of rats, they've managed to create something that makes the series stand out from other action adventure games.
