ROME (Reuters) - A Sicilian court condemned road authorities Monday for suspending the driving license of a man after finding out he was gay.

The court on the Mediterranean island said being gay was merely "a personality disturbance" which had no bearing on a person's ability to drive, Ansa news agency reported.

The 23-year-old man, who was identified as Danilo G., got into trouble with the road license authorities in the city of Catania after they discovered he had been exempted from military service because he was gay.

At least he's not a woman.

To be fair to women drivers, it's hard to adjust for the universe revolving around your vagina. That kind of inertia would throw off any male driver.

I see your error, Europe is a continent, a geological freak of happenstance.

It is not a cohesive whole.

i.e. To be European is only to belong to a group of society that has had the misfortune to be linked by geography, therefore this does not not necessarily mean that there is any further links such as ideals, beliefs, polical stances or even favorite flavours of icecream.

I vote the UK unties the secret cables installed in the English Channel during the 2nd World War & starts floating away from Europe as fast as it is able (Maybe with some big-ass motors to help geology on its way) - We should settle somewhere mid-atlantic, Neither American nor European. - It won't change the politcal landscape much, but I might get cheaper airfares to the US, at the cost of greater travel expenses to Europe - a win/win scenario :p

maybe he was using the stick shift in an obscene manner? You know... people who "wiggle it" at stoplights... too suggestive.

Some parts of europe aren't. For example Sicily.

I think Europe on a whole is "better" for issues like this though. For example, its 16th country passed gay partnership rights last week - with a referendum, no less (the "quality" of such law varies of course..for example from full marraige in spain to civil registrations elsewhere, but it's a start). The EU will hopefully be pushing that further still soon enough.
