Revolution controllerwith kids and parents.

Has anyone here thought of the effects the rev controller could garner with parent and their intereactionwith their kids concerning videogames. I mean think about it the controller now is much easier for younger kids to use. which means it is a system parents can get for their kids. Also a parent watching their kids play the rev, will most like have a higher chance of actually playing games and even purchasing a few theirselves. I can see why teh went for this family system approach. it is very NES like. heck my mum played my NES, and that was the last console she ever touched. thsi could open up big consumer avenues.

Another thought is sports games and in this case Tiger woods. man this is a game for the rev and for company execs who liek to play golf. thin about it, you can actually play some golf in the office confernce room on that Big plasma. Utilizing you real golf skills to play and not have to go to the country club if you are pressed for time. I can see the rev here also.

What do you guys think?

you have a talented kid ( considering it is easier for kids to pick up gaming than adults). thus my whole stated point., but as you know a good 70 % of the human race are perplexed over how to play video games

Is this what you had in mind?

Im pretty sure that was kinda the point of the whole thing :P

My opinion is that it should be great for the wider audience.

My very personal anecdote is that it sucks for my mom, who has Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis (and severely eroded joints around wrist area) :(

Look, I know all parents think their kids are geniuses, but when he puts the controller in his mouth he's not REALLY playing Xenosaga, even if he did beat the game that way.

Well it's certainly more fun than actually playing Xenosaga!

Instead of moving your wrist you can move your entire arm, does that seem any good?

I really hope the Rev will have many games for very young kids (3+), 'cause its controller could be esily used by them. My baby will be born next year, and I'm counting on the Revolution to introduce him to the vg world, when he'll able to handle the controller :D

I doubt it, mostly because moving in any meaningful way for her arms/legs (especially if, say, you require speed) is pretty impossible for her. My mom can't even lift her arms that far up, so it's hard for her. I don't mean to make it sound like she's a cripple - she can walk fine, and she plays regular videogames ok (she can't play games that require you to smash buttons real fast, but she enjoys getting beat down in Mario Party and Pikmin 2, and recently Mario Tennis). She's even currently in remission. But this added movement seems harsh.

She doesn't seem to care, though. I did show her the video and explained it to her and she said she's willing to try anything so that's cool anyway.

Damn, that sucks. :(

My mom doesn't care for PlayStation or Xbox consoles so that's why it concerns me, 'cause when I do visit her or she visits me I like to play the games with her and my sister. I'm sure we'll find something that works for her. Revolution seems pretty accomidating.

No worries, Your child by 2 should be able to use the basics of any remote out there.

I got my son started on Mario 64 at the age of one, just running around levels i opened.

by 3 he was using all the features of the game. now at 8 the boy is a beast at games like super smash Bros. Kids learn quick so i doubt the controller is made for kids. More so i think it is made for everyone, especially the older gamer. that is who i think will benifit from the ease of it all.

Revolution might be an interesting opportunity for toy makers to expand into interactive software.
I really hope that doesn't happen. We already have enough people who don't know anything about video games making them.

Considering how many variables (stance, grip, weight, etc) would be missing by using a rev controller instead of a golf club, I'd bet that their "real golf skills" would be damaged by playing TW because it would allow for negative traits to be reinforced.

And going to a country club is about more than just golfing.

but it brings a closer and better experince than any other thing on the market.

Yeah, i could see some parents will try out the revolution stuff.

Dads = Fishing, golfing, and other sports too.
Moms = Maybe Super Mario Bros. 1 (NES), tennis, golf, tetris.... that sort of stuff. Something very simple.

Yeah... we all know how horrible it was when that one little toy and card company in Kyoto got into the video game industry... with an artist as one of their primary video game designers!

My mom could play NES Bubble Bobble with me for hours as a kid but was baffled by Super Bomberman. I'd like a Bubble Bobble or Bomberman Revolution for her.
