Revolution Graphics possible

This is from the ending credits of a game. (not really a spoiler if you don't understand the context)

Would these be an unreasonable expectation for graphics?

EDIT: I meant that to be a question mark at the end of this thread title. Could someone edit it? Thanks.

Something close to that could have likely been pulled off this gen (remember Rebirth?) but we all know how Nintendo is when it comes to pushing graphics in their games. (As in...they don't.)

I mean, look at RE 4, and then remember that Olimar is like, NOWHERE near as detailed, and neither are the Pikmin or the enemies. All the graphical poweress from RE4 would have gone into the environments. Plus, back to Rebirth, remember that the studio that made that eventually got the entire thing running in real time.

If Nintendo gets off their asses and actually puts some effort into the graphics, I 'm sure Pikmin 3 could look very, very close, if not identicle to that.

Edit: Of course, proper lighting comes into play just as much as realistic textures and high poly figures.

And while we're talking about Pikmin, where's my portable Pikmin game? When will I get to order them around with my stylus in Pikmin DS?

I would say there's a high probability, especially considering what is possible with the technology in stores now. The Revolution should be more than capable of producing graphics on that level, especially considering the next gen consoles can run UE3 with no problem.

Alot of especially considering there isn't it.

Not all of Rebirth was realtime. Only a small part in the middle with the bird landing on his branch. It's actually pretty noticable.

Isn't that real life stuff with just Louie imposed?

Yes. I believe it is.

That level possible on next gen? I don't think so. Maybe the gen after it though. Who knows, maybe I am wrong, but I'm not expecting TOO much out of this next gen. It will be good, but we have a long ways to go still.

yes that is possible, but those pics / gifs are too blurry.

anyway, as far as Revolution graphics, I want........

the forests of ZELDA on Revolution should be like...

Notice how included the word, "eventually." This means that while it wasn't all real-time at E3, they got it all real-time after the fact. Whichis kinda worthless because nobody saw it, but they did it to prove that, had they had more time before E3, they could have gotten the whole thing done in real time. Because, eventually, they did.

Plus, that was the GameCube. The Revolution'll be way more powerful.

And if it's actually real footage then I'm a dumbass, but I still think they could get something close to that on the Rev.

I picked these particular sections because it appears as though someone is playing. (even though it's CG) I figured rather than posting some over-the-top Zelda movie, I would show something more subtle and in-line with gameplay.

It's real life with Louie imposed over it.

No, next-gen will not be able to recreate real-life environments flawlessly :P

Unreal 3 can do the lighting fine.

I'm sure.

That doesn't change the fact that it's real life, and next-gen will not be able to create perfect photo-realistic environments that are absolutely indistiguishable from their real-life counterparts. That's ridiculous. We still have a few generations to go :P

Well, I'd like something slightly resembling that. It's very nice looking. Get to work EAD. :p

I think given the scale of Pikmin, with the right effects and proper direction you're still going to get some of the most amazing looking visuals ever. I don't think you'd be disappointed with how Pikmin 3 looks at all, even if it doesn't individually render thousands of pebbles with intricate shading techniques ;)

But God! THEY HAVE TO RELEASE PIKMIN 3.

Pikmin 2 = GOTY 2004.

i was disappointed with pikmin 2 :/

i bought into all the hype for it here at GAF and it didn't measure up

I was also disappointed in Pikmin 2. The underground caves really ruined it for me. It didn't help that the outdoor enviroments lacked all of the charm from the first game either. I hope they get it right with 3.
