They are probably fake, but I think they might be true, it makes sense with that nintendo has been saying.

If Revolution isn't supposed to launch until Fall 2006, would the specs even be locked down yet? Seems a bit early for hard numbers, making the speculation even more ridiculous...

Well, the word before E3 (it bugged me that they started to slip into old "It's ready when it's ready" habits at E3) was that they'd be ready to launch the instant the PS3 was, they would NOT let themselves be caught going to market last. And some have said we might see the PS3 as early as Spring of 2006, so Nintendo better at least have an idea of what their specs will be right now. They still have time to fine-tune them, but it's not like they're going to wait until November to sit around a room and say, "OK, what do you guys wanna throw in this box?"

Nintendo's tech also seems a little less out there than Sony's, so they're more likely to know what they have available ahead of time, instead of Sony, who might need to make last-second adjustments (or delays) for issues with the Blu-Ray format or their RSX unit or what have you.

If it really is a single-core 3.0ghz processor, you could understand the 'It's not turbo-powered' comments.

Having said that, a 3.0ghz G5 is nothing to complain about.

Iwata said that they will be using the same API's as the GC. So juat a beefed up GC is probable.

um. or legacy components for backwards compatibility (for the API).

and they didnt say the same.. they said similar.
