I was talking to my brother(Well, as much as you can talk to someone like him without ripping his spinal chord out with your bare hands "Fatalatity") and suggested getting project gotham for his xbox. "Er..ok."
He didn't have a clue. And he's atypical casual media influenced gamer.

Ridge racer on the other hand...he's had all of 'em. So I have.

(Just to be clear, I think pg is the better game from what I've heard/seen so far)

Thanks for the replies. I'm not really concerned about my connection, as I'll be upgrading to cable anyway. But some people have relatively shitty broadband connections and when they lag, their car hopping madness can be really distracting.

I guess I'm hoping this will play as smoothly as possible. Car hopping and warping really takes the immersion out of a race. It reminds you that you're playing online, as opposed to playing on a LAN connection or on linked up cabinets. That is the immersion I'm looking for. Hopefully 360 will deliver this as close as possible.

where do you live that has fiber to the home already? are you in the US? Tell me about it if you are. Price, services etc. is it thru ur phone co? are they offering IPTV as well?

You get $5 off a month if you have their telephone service too. I have a different phone co. so I don't get that deal though.


I should be getting EVDO service (broadband on cell phone) from Verizon soon too, so that'll be another $50 a month for them.

As far as the US goes, he's right. PGR is the more mainstream of the 2 games. Despite not selling as much as the original, PGR2 still sold more than any RR has in the US.

If you see how hard Outrun 2 ( a really great game) bombed on xbox I think it is fair to think that Ridge racer 6 on xbox360 will bomb hard to...

Outrun was a way old franchise that would appeal only to the older gamers. Ridge Racer appeared with the new batch of gamers who discovered gaming with Playstation. Most of them are still around and will certainly raise an eyebrow when they will see one of the first game they ever played being released on a non Sony console.
Also Outrun 2, as nice to play as it was, had almost nothing content wise. It was a pure arcade game with a few bonus added. Nothing like a full blown racing game with lots of different tracks/championship/stuff to unlock.

For this new Ridge Racer...

I will not watch any online videos, read any online previews or anything to spoil anything for me, even the graphics of the game. O.K. maybe....just maaaaaybe, I'll take a sneak peek at an ingame screen or two, but that's IT!!!!!

I figure... I can happily wait less than 3 months to get my full on fix.

Plus, if I don't watch any videos, don't hear the music, don't see the final product until I put it in my Xbox 360, with a tears in my eyes, tears of joys... the overall experience will be unbelievable and one of the greatest moments of my life as I load it up on my 100" HD projection screen!

I want to whole package on day one!! I don't want bits and peices of it spoiled within the next 3 months.

There was a time when we had no internet, all we had were images and info. It was better that way... that way you wouldn't have stuff spoiled for you...

I am going back to those days for Ridge Racer 6. All I know is that it's a launch title, and is Xbox Live compatible... let me WANT it more people... let me CRAVE IT more. Not watching any videos or looking at much pics of it will totally screw up my senses and make me kill for it.

This isn't just another racing game, or another launch title, or just another tired milked franchise... oh no no no...

This is Ridge Racer, part SIX... and come November when I open up the sealed case and put the SHINY AMAZING LOOKING DISC into my XBOX 360 and close the tray and load up the game... my 5.1 receiver and speakers will be cranked to 11, my DLP HD Projector and 100" screen right up in my face, bag of Doritos on hand... and tissues for the wheeping that will surely ensue from me witnessing all that WILL BE Ridge Racer 6...

For WhippenDean and myself, there is nothing more to life. We live, we die, we sleep, we wake up, we eat, we breathe... we are just like everybody else out there, except the one thing that truly sets us apart is that we share a connection with one single developer and one single brand they have created for us, the gamer!

We took what was once essentially just an arcade racing game and took it to a whole new level, a level in which mere mortal men can hardly handle. We brought the experience to life in our own... lives!

We aren't just waiting for a new game, we are waiting for the true meaning of our lives. We can go anywhere from here, we could be stuck at some dead end job for the rest of our lives, have kids, get a divorce, go bankrupt, win the lottery, join the army, travel the world... we could do anything in our lives, but one thing that will always truly remain the same, if only ONE thing... would be our undying love and affection for all that is Ridge Racer!

It's not a game. It's a way of life for us... I hope it will be for you too come November!
