i can tell you this much, it's not gonna happen on PS2, or any other current gen system for that matter.isamu said:what can you tell us about the upcoming game for PS2
im not suprised being that it's the only good car racer on the N64.CVXFREAK said:I never knew Ridge Racer 64 performed up to par with most of the PlayStation releases.
You've never heard of Beetle Adventure Racing? Give your head a shake.Johnny Nighttrain said:im not suprised being that it's the only good car racer on the N64.

sales figures please, they'd be super appreciated.
Any figures on RRV or Rage Racer (my two favorites in the series)?

As of June 2003.. so it only sold another 5k copies in 6 months back then.
mrklaw said:bear in mind that RRV came out at launch. So although it probably got a pretty good adoption from the early guys, by the time PS2 got into really big numbers, it was long gone from the shelves.
Nope, SoD uses MCreate I believe (and NPD for US sales). RRV probably sold around 650k I'd guess, usually only Nintendo platform software sales are vastly undercounted (thanks to the retail outlets polled mainly).Miburou said:Ridge Racer V 611,507
That's from Shrine of Data. I think they use Famitsu's numbers, Dengeki/Media Create have usually higher numbers.

I guess the N64 Top Gear Rally games were good enough so that Nintendo actually took publishing duties for the GBA counterparts this generation...

I presume you mean the jogcon right?isamu said:It already has FF support.

WOW, these are hard to believe. I've always assumed the series had large following, as if it were a flagship title of sorts.807 PS2 RIDGE RACER TYPE V Oct-00 NAMCO 177,829

There's plent of canceled RRs actually...doncale said:Rave Racer - PC - ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
because Namco fucking canceled it.

-Ridge Racer (Sega Saturn)
-Rave Racer (PC/Power VR1)
-Rave Racer (Nintendo 64)
-Ridge Racer V (GameCube)
-Ridge Racer Next (PlayStation 2)
-Ridge Racer Next (GameCube)
-Ridge Racer Next (XBox)
Nope, they were different games at first... Racing Evolution started out PS2 only (as "New Racing Project") and took RRNext's place when Team Zero fell apart (with most staff leaving to form Cavia). Namco's been adamant though that Racing Evolution isn't a Ridge Racer game.Kiriku said:Didn't 'Ridge Racer Next' turn into R: Racing Evolution later on?
It'd be interesting to see what numbers it did on GameCube versus the PS2 and Xbox versions. I'd imagine Pac-Man Vs. being bundled would've helped it somewhat, even if only in comparison to the other two.jarrod said:No idea, I don't think it broke 100k on any platform though in the US and it flat out bombed in Japan. It was a bad idea all around.
