What is Ring of Honor?
A pro wrestling company that has been around since 2002. They were really popular in the mid-2000s due to a roster that boasted the likes of Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, among others. Today, they are arguably the #2 pro wrestling promotion in North America after the WWE. Check them out @ http://rohwrestling.com

What is Final Battle?
Ring of Honor's Wrestlemania. It's their year-end show that many of their feuds and stories build up to and culminate at.

How do I find out about the storylines for this thing?
ROH has released a 50-minute preview show that hypes all of the major bouts. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iX-61G16Wc

How can I watch this and how much does it cost?
You can order this through traditional televised PPV, or as an iPPV on http://rohwrestling.com for $24.95

Will it be any good?
This is arguably ROH's biggest show ever, and their talent are known for going all-out. Yes, this will rock your face off.

Also, please feel free to chat it up in our Wrassle-GAF community thread for all things wrestling. We do a new thread each month. Here is the one for December: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=942106

Decent card. Still feel like ROH needs to improve their roster a bit. Sinclair is crazy for charging twenty five. But that's just been their era. They haven't taken the next step.....

Sinclair really should push more money into ROH right about now, their production values are the only thing really holding them back from a comfortable number two spot. They're getting that spot pretty much by default right now.

will watch. i have no idea who anyone is tho, have never watched this league before.

Definitely check out the preview show in the OP, does a good job of explaining everyone's character and storylines. Also, you can watch their weekly TV show for free on the ROH website.

The trouble is that Sinclair didn't really buy ROH to make a product to challenge for the no.2 spot, they bought it to be a cheap, self-sustainable wrestling promotion that could provide an hour's worth of weekly content for their TV stations year round. It'd be real nice if they had some bigger ambitions for the show, but I'm glad ROH is in a financially sound place nowadays.

They don't even need a lot. A little bit more funding for better video/audio, better stage set-ups, etc, would go a long way.

ROH is on actual PPV now, and it should be trying its best to not seem small time.

I wish ROH would do a VOD service like WWE/NJPW that included the ppv because $25 for just the PPV is kind of hard to justify these days.

Well, I saw some of the wrestlers tweeting that the new set-up they have for Final Battle is really cool, "unlike anything we've done before", and the building they're running looks fairly unique - it'll be interesting to see what they have in store.

Yeah, it's a bit pricey, which I think is part of why ROH are only doing a handful of big PPVs a year now, rather than try and do an iPPV every month or so like they used to. It'd be awesome if they had a streaming service, there's a lot of content in their back catalogue.

I think they'll go that route eventually. At least I hope so. I'd even pay 15 bucks a month if I got all of their monthly specials. 10 bucks is the go-to though.

Okay, I'll watch it.

Let's see if I can finish it since last year I gave up half way.

NXT R Evolution is what I'm hyped about this week.

I will probably end up getting it since i haven't watched a live ROH ppv in a long time. I usually just wait and get the DVD.

I feel like having a VOD service will help them grow a lot. I know quite a few people who would love to go back and watch Punk, Joe, Bryan etc. matches, people who watch WWE and even TNA but don't watch ROH because it's not really available outside of DVDs.

That's thursday right? I have to get my deviated septum fixed that day so hopefully i wont be too out of it because i really want to watch it live.

Pretty pumped for this show all around and love almost every match announced thus far. The 6 man with ACH & The Bucks should be fantastic and as a mark for the Midwest guys I am pumped for Sydal/Lethal for the tv strap as well. Only thing that pisses me off about ROH right now is them pulling Elgin and now Kyle O'reilly from future St. Louis Anarchy shows but I understand thats "best for business" lol.

I don't see them moving to VOD service. It's just not in Sinclair's wheelhouse. Just put a smidge more money into production and sign some more exclusive talent.

Really excited to see how Final Battle looks tonight. Best in the World was different and better than their TV product, but I'm sure they learned from that and hopefully make FB look even better.

How does iPPV work? I'm in UK and probably am not going to stay up for the entire thing but don't want to waste money on something I won't be able to watch all of

Planning on watching this tonight. I really enjoy ROH when I get the chance to watch it. Briscoe and Cole should be awesome. They are actually 2 of my favorite guys in all of wrestling right now.

The show will air live at 1AM UK time, but the video on demand replay will be up moments after it's finished, so you can easily wake up tomorrow and pick up where you left off.

They are doing an iPPV on Ustream and you can usually watch the replay on UStream as well if you paid for it. You don't wait for them to upload it to their site. That's how it was for the NJPW shows anyway.

Once you buy it on ROH's site, you have access to it for about a year. You might just be better off getting the on-demand replay if you want to sleep. Just go to rohwrestling.com and order the replay once it becomes available shortly after.

I haven't watched an ROH show since 2009. Stopped watching after Sapolsky left the company. Didn't like what Adam did with as the booker. Have they improved since then?

2005-2007 was the best time period for ROH. ROH vs CZW in 2006 was soooooo fucking epic. Easily one of the best feuds after Stone Cold/McMahon.

They definitely have picked things back up again and with this being their final show of the year, I would give it a try again. Card looks fun and stacked.

2014 has been a great year for them.

-Did 2 critically-acclaimed shows with New Japan
-Benefited from the returns of AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels
-Have had numerous awesome shows (Anniversary show, All-Star Extravaganza being the standouts)
-Returned to PPV with Best in the World back in June
-Got a toy/merch deal
-Expanded into some more markets
-Production looks better than it has in years
-The in-ring product has been very good this year

Worth giving them a look right now. They're going through a mini-renaissance right now IMO.

Yeah, definitely - Adam had a lot of ideas, but he wasn't the right man to book them and their new TV show. Real shame Gabe didn't get a chance at TV. Anywho, Jim Cornette took over booking afterwards and things got pretty bad as he tried to turn ROH into Smoky Mountain of Honor, but now Jim's gone and Hunter (Delirious) has the book things have been more focussed. The TV product's actually worth watching now and they're a lot more stable. I'd say 2014 is the best year they've had in quite a while.

2004-2006 for me, maybe even 2003 - I loved that early ROH era, but things started to go off the rails in 2007 with the Faction Warfare stuff that didn't really hit the mark.

I just hope we don't get another heel faction ala SCUM or The Decade formed at Final Battle. I'm sure they'll have at least one swerve planned that fans will be ambivalent about.

Yep. They just need a couple more talents to push them over the hump.

2006 ROH was magical and it has my favorite ROH show - Glory by Honor V - Night 2

That was Bryan as champion year, right? And the CZW vs ROH feud?

Good GAWD were both those stories awesome. And the year ended with Homicide winning the gold, the perfect pay-off to both storylines.

Please, tell me they booked the Dragon Gate boys again. Their matchups were some of the most incredible I had seen back then and they still blow others out of the water.

Yeah, and they were doing the joint work with NOAH. Marifuji vs Nigel and KENTA vs Danielson. Kings of Wrestling were on top of their game as well. Just greatness all around.

Unfortunately ROH had a falling out with Dragon Gate, they're partnered with New Japan now. Gabe started up Dragon Gate USA after he left ROH, but beyond the first few 'super shows' the promotion hasn't fared too well and is pretty much in hiatus. Dragon Gate themselves have been having an amazing year, though - their biggest show of the year, Final Gate, is on iPPV at the end of the month;

This is cool. Will check it out. Thanks.

Has ROH had any ultraviolent feuds this year? Something like BJ/Necro or BJ/Jacobs for example?

Can't wait for that! What a way to end 2014 and we get WK9 a few days later.

To those who say wrestling sucks these days needs to broaden their horizon.

I want to watch the event again now!

The closest thing they've had to those feuds this year has been Cole vs. Briscoe, who had a bloody ladder war at the anniversary show, and are facing each other in a fight without honor tonight. They kayfabe can't stand each other.

Me too lol.

We also got those two amazing KENTA vs Marujuji matches at NOAH. And wasn't Joe vs Kobashi that year as well?

Joe/Kobashi was from 2005, I believe.

In 2006, you had the INSANE street fight at the Anni Show, with ROH taking on CZW boys, the memorable Cornette/Zandig speech, Cage of Death at Death Before Dishonor, and so much more. 2006 was unbelievably good.

Cage of Death was an amazing main.

Perfect storytelling. Everything WCW vs WWF should've been, right down to Homicide entering and just entering full on boss mode.

Man the more I think about this card the more sold I am on this show. Though I haven't followed the RD Evans/Moose saga at all so I have low expectations there. All the Dragon Gate love in here is making me dig up my old Toryumon vhs tapes. Any recommendations on current DG stuff and does Evolve/DGUSA even run anymore?
