Len Wein, co-creator of WOLVERINE and SWAMP THING & more responsible for the x-men you love than he gets credit for. Thank you. #RIP

Just heard. RIP Len Wein. So very sorry to hear it. A terrific writer and a better friend. We will miss you so much.

Really enjoy his runs on Blue Beetle & Green Lantern (he brought Jordan back to earth at the time). Plus his X-Men issues aren't bad either. What a loss for the comic industry. RIP!

Why does he wear the mask!?
Fuck. He created my all time favourite marvel character (Wolverine)

A genuine legend. May he rip.

Oh no. And we lost Bernie Wrightson not long ago too.
What a legendary legacy. Without his contribution to comics my childhood wouldn't have been nearly as fun.

RIP.

Edit:
I mean, the guy wrote this:

He was a rockstar.

Current Batman writer Tom King is sharing some things about Wein.

https://twitter.com/TomKingTK/status/906998331943129088

After my 1st Batman, I was struggling. Hated my stuff. Len wrote a note, said he loved the issue. Gave me the confidence to keep going.

Len told me he pitched Wolfman/Perez Titans to DC and they hated it. He did it. Huge hit. Then he pitched Watchmen and they couldn't say no.

He worked behind the scenes on so much in the comics industry that many never knew about.

1st time I met Len I, dickishly, said, "You should be as famous as Stan Lee!" He responded, appropriately, "I am, you just don't know it."

Neil Gaiman has also said that Wein was an inspiration to him.

I just learned that my friend and writing inspiration @LenWein passed away this morning. My love and condolences to his wife, @mcvalada.

Len Wein. He wrote Swamp Thing, Phantom Stranger, & my favourite Batman stories. He showed 12 year old me that comics could be literature.

Len Wein was the editor who brought the British creators to DC. He was one of the nicest people I've met, in 30 years in comics.

He will be missed. And I will miss him.

RIP.

Beyond those accomplishments, he was also Alan Moore's edit on Watchmen.

If I'm not mistaken, he pleaded with Moore to not go with the ending that the comic book went with, citing its similarity to a Twilight Zone episode.

RIP to one of comic book's biggest creators that surprisingly never got quite the mainstream renown that others have enjoyed over the years, despite the massive popularity of the characters he had a hand in with their creation.

This is so sad may he Rest in peace.

He helped create so many memorable characters. I love Wolverine, Storm and Swamp Thing so this hurts.

Wolverine is still one of my favorite characters, as the figure of him besides my desk would attest.

Very sad to hear. Though he's more known for his work on other characters, I enjoyed his run on Amazing Spider-Man...issue 153, "The Longest Hundred Yards" is one of my all time favorite Spidey stories. RIP Len, thanks for all the fun comics.

God DAMN it.

Len also helped create the original version of Nova in a fanzine with Marv Wolfman.

It really sucks to get old. Seeing so many people you love and/or respect die. It's rough. It feels like more and more are going every year, too.

Wein also created Thunderbird and killed him off two issues later.

That may be the shortest run of any character on a team book.
