Risen | Port Announcement Teaser

Port?
I assume of the PC version.
I played the 360 version of Risen on my Xbox One through BC.
It's incredibly rough and janky. Lots of bugs.
Risen 2 was much better, although still with some critical bugs.
Haven't gotten around to Risen 3 yet.

Not sure if I'd buy Risen over again unless it was a major remake, which this clearly isn't.

Lol. Who is going to buy this dated eurojank? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Well, me!
But only because it was the last game which exuded the atmosphere and mood of Gothic. Furthermore, I had never the chance to really play it. Tried it once on 360... catastrophic. Looked like a game from the N64 era.

I feel personally offended by the 360 port :lollipop_crying:

I played this many years ago. Very janky but still enjoyable, at least for me at that time in my life. I wouldn't want to go back to it now, though.

I don't see any visual improvements. It still looks very dated.

If you like this sort of "Eurojank RPG" goodness, have at it. I will pass.

There is zero reason that this game should ever drop a single frame on One X.
Yet it spends time in the low 30s in its "performance mode".

Impossible to tell from this video if they fixed all the problems with the earlier console version. But I played and finished that one, even with the bugs. So, if you're on Xbox, I recommend picking up a used copy of that one for $5 instead of this half-baked cash grab.

Series X will iron it out... I hope.

I need some idyllic Piranha Bytes eurojank game in my life right now :lollipop_raising_hand:

Edit: Right now I can't even buy it, even if I wanted to.

It's all the rage these days to bring back games from years long past, and THQ Nordic is now on that train with their recent release of Risen. Risen is an action RPG from 2009 and has developed a reputation for being something of a cult classic in the years since its release. But sometimes, things we loved before are better left in our memories.

But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

Note: The PS4 version of this game was reviewed on the PlayStation 5.

Gothic 2's long lost cousin and a much better Gothic 3 than what we got. It's a great RPG that only falls apart in the last 5 hours or so.

If you're a Piranha Bytes fan than you've already played this.
If you're not a Piranha Bytes fan this ain't gonna change your mind.

Enjoyed my playthrough on pc, but $30 is too steep, will buy at $10 or less.
