Veronica and I would make some beautiful babies. She would be supplying most of the beauty, but I am sure she would cover it for both of us.

Fine, more Ethel for me.

And I agree, I'm glad they talked it out and didn't drag out the tension. I hate that stuff.

Well I am pretty sure that at the end of the episode with Cheryl saying that "he was supposed to come back" means that they were trying to fake his death for some reason or other and he was supposed to show up alive later on down the line. Not sure of the motive for it yet.

My long term guess is that he didn't die that day, he was living in the wild for a while, someone captured him and tied him up (those were the ligature marks on him during the autopsy scene) and held for a while before being disposed of back into the river. This would explain why they didn't find his body when they dredged the river during the summer.

Also, I call dibs on Veronica. She is my type of girl 100%.

I agree with the bolded. Not sure what the motive is going to be, but the show is painting Betty's mother as too obvious of a villain so it can't be her. My top suspects are Grundy (go full bad guy, good twist because it seems like she has an alibi right now) and Kevin (kinda irrelevant at the moment, but gets a fair amount of screen time)

That was better than the premiere and I agree they should've done it back to back. I doubt the ratings will matter much as long as it does well digitally and especially internationally on Netflix. I'm sure they'd hope they would be better and the show would come back in the Fall with a full season order but if WB can make money off it over seas they'll make it cheap for the network they half own to keep it around.

I know it is standard for a CW show that everybody is hot/gourgeous but Riverdale is taking it to another level lol

There should be a law against this sort of thing, it's almost too much for one TV show to handle.

The line is waaaaaay back there, pal.

Mrs Grundy is absolutely behind it, she's the most innocent of them all, and the shows has been very selective of what parts of the flash back they've shown.

Bruh, like everyone on this show is hot. Then they are also really good actors too!

The young woman who plays Veronica, she almost gives Candice Patton a run for her money

I do wonder if they are gonna try to do a polygamous relationship angle with Veronica/Betty/Archie or just have a little rivalry

This leaves Betty to be my waifu.

Ugh, and I thought I was gonna have her all to myself.

Y'all are being way too hard on the girl. Yeah, I get it, Archie and Veronica are trying to be nice. But rejection like that hurts, no matter how nice you try to be with it. Honestly if anything I'd say she's getting over her forever crush too quickly, IMO.

Plus, that rejection was nonsense: "oh, you're perfect and I'm just not good enough for you", lolwut? You aren't Spider-man, dude.

I also think Archie's "this is real, right? if not, what am I protecting?" bit was either painfully naive or incredibly manipulative. I think it's supposed to be the former, but, c'mon dude. You can't be that dumb. You know she'll say or do whatever it takes to keep your mouth shut.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Wish more people WERE talking about Riverdale.

Need some kind of hardcore, grass roots movement to get the ratings up.

I could see this growing thanks to Netflix. It'll get added to the US catalogue right around the time school is letting out for summer.

I'm a cis straight dude and I literally want to bang the entire cast. I'd even let old Luke Perry throw it in me. They're just all so gorgeous.

EDIT: also the show is outstanding and I can't wait until next week.

Yeah, Grundy would be my guess also. I am guessing she is using Archie as a cover. She might have a thing for red heads so she and Jason were involved, which is why he was never super into Betty's sister and treated her like shit. Jason was basically using her as a cover girlfriend.

In fact, here is my long shot prediction.

1. Jason + Ms. Grundy were a thing.
2. Jason convinced his sister him disappearing would be a good publicity stunt because they seem pretty vain and like the attention.
3. Jason wanted to use his disappearance to spend time with Ms. Grundy.
4. The gun shot Archie heard that morning with Ms. Grundy was staged by Jason to give Ms. Grundy an alibi for the disappearance if she needed one. She might actually want Archie to go to the cops eventually.
5. Jason lived in the wild or something for a while and was either captured by Betty's mom or something went wrong between him and Grundy so she killed him.

I am ready to be horribly wrong!

Fantastical

Death Prophet
Just watched... So now we know that they heard a separate bullet on the day Jason died I guess.

I loved it except for the Pussycat part. Why did they have to shoot it so cheesy?

My money is on Archie's dad as the killer. No idea why at the moment, just feel like he's the least likely and therefore a perfect twist. This way of guessing is exactly how I guessed the killer in Harper's Island so I'm sticking with it.

And while I'm a brunette-lover, Betty is the clear winner here. Just gorgeous and neurotic and absolutely my type.

If it wasn't for the fact that it's fucking Betty, I'd say the killer was her. She has motive, some unexamined mental issues, repressed anger, and is displaying major stress about the entire ordeal. Everything points to her in terms of narrative, it just can't be her... because she's Betty.

There is no way they aren't going to do a Veronica secretly wanted Betty all along plot before this show is over, but she settled with Archie on some reverse/inverse/straight Glee shit

Personally, I am not a fan of that singing and dancing routine at the end and that was a very meh cover of Sugar Sugar. While it is central to Glee, feels like time wasted here... takes away from good character moments like those between Archie and Jughead. As it is, there are only 13 episodes for such a huge cast.

PS: When Jughead accidentally saw Archie and Grundy getting flirty, Radioactive by Imagine Dragons started playing in my head. Thanks Arrow.

Got to watching the second episode, it made my longtime Archie fan heart swell seeing the gang at Pop's hanging out.

The moment Cheryl said 'he was supposed to come back' it seemed pretty obvious that his death had been faked right up until he turned up really dead. The speculation in the thread about Grundy feels super on point.
I can already picture her getting convicted and having her mother become the new traditional Miss Grundy at school.

I'm in love with the keyboard player in the Pussycats.

Betty going HAM on Cheryl though while justified was...worrying and I can see Betty becoming a prime suspect later on. I cannot believe they'd cast the PERFECT Betty and have her be the killer though...it's Betty. You don't waste this casting for one season.

The casting in this show in general is so fucking on point, even Weatherbee.
