A sequel to the 1993 hit comedy Mrs. Doubtfire is in the works at Fox 2000. Robin Williams is in early talks to reprise the role of Daniel Hillard/Mrs. Doubtfire and resume producing duties with Marsha Williams, says The Hollywood Reporter. Bonnie Hunt is also in talks to write the film.

The original, directed by Chris Columbus (first two "Harry Potter" films), earned $219.2 million domestically and $222 million overseas for a massive worldwide total of $441.2 million, or the 53rd highest-grossing film ever. Mrs. Doubtfire received two Golden Globe awards in 1994, one for best picture (comedy/musical) and one for Williams as best actor in a comedy/musical. The film also won an Oscar for best makeup.

In Mrs. Doubtfire, Daniel Hillard learns his ex-wife needs a housekeeper, so he applies for and lands the job disguised as Mrs. Doubtfire, a devoted British nanny. The masquerading Daniel creates a whole new life with his entire family.

WTF, Sally Field falls for it again?! You dumb bitch.

:lol wtf, why would you make a sequel to this film? Anyway, I dont think sally is going to fall for it again, if you read the last line youll see that the description is refering to the 1st film.

Yes, but this is going to bomb anyway. Having a successful film doesnt mean you'll have a successful sequel. For more examples of this, see most disney animated sequels.

Um, most of those are direct to video, made for pocket change, and very successful. Why do you think there are so many?

I can't think of any logical reason why the character would bring back Mrs. Doubtfire, so therefore, I believe the reason will be so bizarre and inane, that it will be the most significant thing in films since the cane from Citizen Kane.

TITLE: Mrs. Doubtfire, Too!

PLOT: A real life Mrs. Doubtfire sees the crossdressing man on television and confronts him for stealing her life and image. Through a series of long winded trials and court appearances, it is decided that the impostor (Williams) and the true Mrs. Doubtfire both equally hold rights to the image and life of Mrs. Doubtfire. This causes great confusion for Sally Field, the wife of the crossdresser, as she begins to mistake the true Doubtfire for her husband! Especially when she discovers she likes the sex better! The climax is a confrontation between the two "Doubtfires" which is ended by the gunshot of Sally Field. Who does she shoot? End with a cliffhanger and possibility for "Mrs. Doubtfire, Me Three!"

DIRECTOR: Some stupid hack. I dunno, the guy that did the first one. What? Oh, I see.

I swear! I got it from a movie website! I swear! Why would anyone make this up? It'd be a waste of everyone's time.

I loved the first one, so I'd at least give the sequel a try.

I have a feeling this is going down Dumb and Dumber-er alley, though. :(
